CCE: Upper Fir Ups the Ante

NELSON MAH, Northern Securities (02/03/2011)
"Commerce Resources reported an expanded 43-101 resource estimate for the company's Upper Fir tantalum and niobium deposit in Blue River, B.C. . .The project covers 105,373 hectares. Power transmission lines, rail, and paved and gravel roads are adjacent or within the property boundaries. . .Engineering firm AMEC determined a base case indicated mineral resource of 36.4 million tons containing 195 ppm. . .The revised indicated resource estimate is above the prior 43-101 indicated base estimate. . .[U.S. tantalum supply] may be further curtailed in 2011 due to political and security pressures. . .In mid-October, the price for tantalite concentrate rose [from US$75] to US$195/g and tantalum scrap increased [from US$110] to US$280/kg. The higher prices reflect reduced production, increased concerns about conflict-tantalum production in Africa, depletion of stockpiles and curtailed exports from China."
