Scotia Capital Initiates Coverage of GUY

TREVOR TURNBULL, Scotia Capital (01/19/2011)
"We have initiated coverage on Guyana Goldfields' common shares with a 1-Sector Outperform rating and a one-year target price of CAD$15. The 4.6 Moz. Aurora deposit is one of the only high-grade gold deposits of its size not controlled by a senior producer. The company is even more compelling given its dominant land position in the gold-rich and underexplored Guiana Shield of South America. Later this year, a definitive feasibility study is expected to greatly expand on the 2009 preliminary assessment as it incorporates nearly two years of additional exploration and resource growth.

Our valuation factors in about 1.0 Moz of upside as inferred resources are upgraded from in-fill drilling. We believe even more gold ore is likely from new discoveries that currently have no resource estimates. Shares are trading at an attractive 1.07x our NAVPS of CAD$8.57. We ascribe a 1.70x multiple to get our CAD$15 one-year target."
