RBY: Bulk Sampling at F2

DANIEL EARLE, Newcrest, TD Securities (12/21/2010)
"Rubicon announced that bulk sampling has commenced at the F2 Gold System, with completion of two 1000-ton samples from separate sub-zones expected in Q111. The company announced further definition drilling and sampling results that, in our view, confirm observations from the November underground site visit: 1.) Definition drill results are tending to be better than wider-spaced drill results; and 2.) New NW-trending mineralization not previously recognized in drilling is being encountered.

We think that the position that some skeptics have taken that the mined grade and ounces are likely to be significantly lower than that reported in the resource (3.2 Moz. at 17 g/t) is becoming increasingly untenable. We anticipate the bulk samples addressing the question of whether the resource methodology accurately estimates grade. The identification of new sub-zones, like the recently identified WLB2 sub-zone, and new orientations in underground drilling and development already suggest to us that there is significant upside to the ounces estimated in the resource."
