Future of Fortuna to Be Disclosed

BRIAN QUAST, CIBC World Markets Inc. (03/24/2010)
"We had expected that the San Jose study was going to be released prior to the conference call. Apparently we will have to wait another week. The drill results for the high-grade silver zone of the Animas vein are also waiting for disclosure in Q2/10.

San Jose is the primary engine for growth at Fortuna, and the market is anxiously awaiting release of the study. Management has assured us that this disclosure is only days away. During the conference call, management tone seemed optimistic, if anything.

Fortuna has encountered some high-grade silver zones near the top of the Animas vein, with grades well in excess of 1kg/ton. We are awaiting assay results from the drilling of this zone, and expect that this zone will be in production later in 2010, raising production levels.

Q4/10 earnings were slightly lower than our $0.04/sh estimate, coming in at $0.01/sh. Most of the difference was due to stock-based compensation and taxes. At this point, earnings are far less relevant to Fortuna than the news flow that we expect in the coming weeks."
