Fundamental Research Initiates Coverage of Rio Alto

"Rio Alto Mining Limited is a TSX Venture listed junior exploration and mining company focused on developing the La Arena project in Northern Peru.

The La Arena project currently holds an indicated resource in oxide gold cap of 58 Mt grading 0.49 gpt. Copper/gold sulphide resources in underlying porphyry bodies are: 220 Mt indicated grading 0.36% Cu and 0.27 gpt Au; 170 Mt inferred grading 0.32% Cu and 0.22 gpt Au.

The company is targeting production from the oxide gold cap by Q4-2010, at a per annum production rate of 50,000 ounces, to be upgraded to 100,000 oz/year by year two.

Three key positives of the company are: low political risk and positive mining sentiment in Peru, potential for near-term gold production and experienced management.

In November 2009, the company completed a $6.14 million private placement, by issuing 17.04 million shares at $0.36 per share.
