Mexico—Looking at a Golden Future

"Of the three pillars that make a solid base for a junior explorer (good leadership, good projects, good capital structure), management is perhaps Pediment's sturdiest. Chester F. Millar, Chairman and Director of Pediment, is considered by many to be the forerunner of mining low-grade heap leachable gold deposits in the Western United States and Latin America.

During our visit to Mexico, we also visited the company's 100%-owned San Antonio Project, which covers 48,715 ha and is located on the Baja Peninsula, near the historic mining town of San Antonio and 40 km southeast from the port city of La Paz. Infrastructure is good with quality gravel roads through the area and a high voltage power line across it.

In the last two years the company has completed the first phase of drilling at San Antonio with nearly 37,000 total metres of drilling, in addition to over 6,000 metres previously completed by Echo Bay in the '90s; the project area now totals more than 43,000 metres drilled. The San Antonio currently boasts 1.45 million oz of resources in various categories. The ounces that probably matter most at this stage are the 400,000oz of near surface oxides at Los Planes (10.5Mt @ 1.18g/t).

At a US$1,000/oz gold price Chester Millar's team could possibly build a short-lived yet highly profitable little mine. Cash flow from said mine could be reinvested to build the resource and further expand the operation. The company will continue to work on surface rights, permitting, water rights, metallurgical studies, planning and design of a bulk mining and heap leaching test in 2009."
