Copper Discovery 600 meters From Main Zone Expands Exploration at British Columbia Project
Copper One Resources Corp. (CEXY:CSE; CEXYF:OTCPK; IW8:FSE) reported the visual identification of a new copper-mineralized zone approximately 1,969 feet (600 meters) northeast of the main mineralized zone at its 100%-owned Redonda Copper-Molybdenum Project on West Redonda Island, British Columbia.
The announcement followed observations made in step-out drill hole RED-26-04 during the company's fully funded, 7,874-foot (2,400-meter) diamond drilling program. Semi-massive chalcopyrite, a copper-bearing sulphide mineral, and magnetite were observed at approximately 171.30 meters downhole.
The observations remain preliminary, and laboratory analysis is required to confirm the presence and grade of copper mineralization.
"The identification of a new zone of strong copper mineralization approximately 1,969 feet (600 meters) northeast of the main zone marks an exciting development for Copper One and highlights the exploration potential emerging at Redonda," said David Greenway, Copper One's president and chief executive officer, in the company news release.
"Encountering semi-massive chalcopyrite and magnetite in step-out drill hole RED-26-04 is particularly encouraging as we work to better understand the scale and distribution of mineralization across the property," Greenway added.
RED-26-04 is being drilled at an inclination of minus 52 degrees and is planned to reach approximately 656 feet (200 meters). The hole was designed to investigate mineralization northeast of the main zone and provide additional geological information about the Redonda system.
Copper One also reported completing drill hole RED-26-03 to a depth of 770 feet (234.69 meters) at an inclination of minus 75 degrees. Drill core photographed at approximately 417 feet (127 meters) downhole showed fine-grained molybdenite within a short breccia zone.
The current program is testing targets developed through historical exploration data, airborne geophysics, field mapping, and geological interpretation. Copper One engaged Paradigm Drilling Ltd., which deployed a Boyles T-75 hydraulic diamond drill capable of testing targets at depths exceeding 1,969 feet (600 meters).
Redonda comprises nine mineral claims covering approximately 2,746 hectares within British Columbia's Coast Suture Zone. Exploration dating to the late 1960s identified multiple copper-molybdenum mineralized zones that remain open along strike and at depth. Historical drilling by Teck Resources Ltd. (TECK:TSX; TECK:NYSE) in 1979 included nine diamond drill holes totaling 5,515 feet (1,681 meters).
The company also identified an area along a historic logging road east of the main mineralized trend that may represent another previously unrecognized mineralized zone. Copper One plans to map and sample the area, which could become an additional drilling target depending on analytical results.
Copper Prices and Global Supply Dynamics Shape the Market
Copper prices remained elevated in October amid industrial demand, supply disruptions, and shifting trade policies. According to an October 18 report by Don Dawson for Barchart, copper futures had rallied strongly over the preceding year, reached record highs, and subsequently entered a period of sideways trading.
Dawson reported that U.S. copper inventories had exceeded 1.6 million metric tons, including exchange warehouses and commercial storage facilities. Much of the accumulation resulted from traders importing copper ahead of anticipated tariffs, rather than purchasing the metal for immediate industrial consumption.
By mid-October, COMEX inventories had exceeded 700,000 metric tons, compared with approximately 58,744 metric tons monitored by the Shanghai Futures Exchange on October 9. The comparison excluded Chinese government reserves and privately held inventories.
The report also examined the impact of U.S. trade policy on copper markets. In July 2025, a 50% tariff on certain copper products excluded refined copper, triggering a decline of approximately 22% in COMEX copper futures. Dawson explained that the price adjustment reflected changes in tariff expectations rather than a sudden decline in global consumption.
"A large stockpile alone doesn't guarantee falling prices," Dawson wrote, noting that industrial demand, mining disruptions, and global inventories remained important market considerations.
The report described how persistent premiums on New York copper futures had encouraged shipments into the United States, reducing inventories elsewhere. The resulting supply imbalance had contributed to London Metal Exchange copper prices reaching a record near US$15,000 per metric ton during September.
More recently, the narrowing difference between COMEX and London prices has reduced incentives for additional shipments into the United States. The report also described tightening supply conditions outside the U.S. and changes in trading activity as participants reassessed tariff expectations.
"In the past few weeks, the mood seems to have shifted a bit," one market brokerage executive told Bloomberg News. "People are starting to consider dipping their toes back in."
The report further described how U.S. inventories had created opportunities for traders to purchase physical copper while selling futures contracts, reflecting differences between immediate and future delivery prices.
Trading Economics also reported on October 19 that copper futures had climbed toward US$6.60 per pound following stronger-than-expected economic data from China, the world's largest copper consumer.
China's economy expanded 4.5% during the third quarter, compared with 4.3% in the preceding quarter and expectations of 4.4%. Industrial production increased 5.5% year over year in September, exceeding the anticipated 5.4% increase.
"Copper futures climbed toward US$6.60 per pound on Monday, recovering from last week's losses," Trading Economics reported, attributing the movement partly to improved economic indicators from China.
The report also identified supply constraints associated with labor strikes and adverse weather affecting mining operations in Chile, the world's largest copper producer.
On the demand side, Trading Economics highlighted data center infrastructure, semiconductor manufacturing, and battery energy storage systems as sectors supporting copper consumption.
Copper had remained an important industrial metal across construction, electronics, power generation, and renewable energy systems, while October market developments reflected the combined influence of industrial activity, physical supply conditions, and international trade policy.
What's Next: Redonda Exploration, Expanded Nevada Drilling, and Resource Definition
Copper One's October 2026 investor presentation outlined additional exploration activities across its North American copper portfolio, including ongoing work at Redonda and an expanded drilling program at its flagship Majuba Hill Copper-Silver-Gold Project in Nevada.
At Redonda, the company identified up to 10 permitted drill sites and more than 1,640 feet (500 meters) of completed diamond drilling, with mineralization remaining open along strike and at depth. Its exploration strategy includes evaluating known mineralized zones, testing priority geological and geophysical targets, and investigating the newly identified area east of the main trend.
At Majuba Hill, Copper One completed 4,015 feet, or 1,224 meters, of Phase 1 diamond drilling during 2026. The company was evaluating the recovered core and incorporating geological observations into its Phase 2 targeting strategy.
The expanded Phase 2 program calls for up to 10,000 additional feet (3,048 meters) of HQ/PQ diamond core drilling, with Evolve Exploration Nevada, LLC engaged as the drilling contractor. If Phase 2 is completed in full, the two phases would total 14,015 feet (approximately 4,272 meters) of drilling.
The program targets lateral and depth extensions of known copper-silver-gold mineralization and aims to improve understanding of mineralized breccia corridors. Priority areas include the Southern Breccia Zone, Northern Breccia Zone, Bald Breccia, and 789 Target.
Copper One is also incorporating AI-assisted exploration technology developed by ExploreTech. The platform integrates drilling, geophysical, geochemical, and historical datasets to identify potential mineralized zones. During the company’s 2025 drilling program, AI-assisted drill hole MHB-36 intersected visually observed chalcopyrite mineralization within the targeted breccia zone associated with a southern resistivity anomaly. These observations did not establish copper grade or economic viability. The company's longer-term technical objectives include advancing Majuba Hill toward an inaugural NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate. Planned work involves integrating drilling and geophysical results, refining three-dimensional geological models, defining mineralized domains, prioritizing infill and step-out drilling, and initiating preliminary metallurgical and density studies. No completion date for the resource estimate was specified.
Elsewhere in its portfolio, Copper One outlined additional exploration at the Sport Project in Utah, acquired through its September 28, 2026, acquisition of Rooinek Mining Corp. Initial reconnaissance sampling returned copper selective surface grab samples returned 1.155% Cu and 0.819% Cu, with expanded geological mapping, surface sampling, and geophysical evaluation planned to identify potential drilling targets. The company cautioned that the selective samples might not represent mineralization across the property.
Copper One's Canadian portfolio holds an option to earn up to a 100% interest in the Redhill Property in British Columbia, which covers approximately 4,736 hectares and targets copper-zinc mineralization in a volcanogenic massive sulphide geological setting. The company additionally announced an October 7 agreement to acquire the Sword & Gossan nickel-copper-cobalt properties in Labrador.
These exploration activities followed a September 29 financing that raised gross proceeds of CA$7,955,900, according to the investor presentation, which did not specify the currency. The financing involved 19,889,750 special warrants issued at CA$0.40 each, with proceeds designated for general working capital and exploration programs.
