In a news release, MAG Silver Corp. (MAG:TSX; MAG:NYSE A) reported that in light of the Mexican government's order to temporarily suspend all non-essential activities, the Juanicipio Project operator, Fresnillo Plc, has informed MAG Silver that it has "been in regular consultation with Mexican Government officials to determine the most appropriate compliance approach while attempting to minimize the overall impact on project development."
The Mexican government order is in place until May 30, 2020, to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.
The company reported that it has made some work level changes at its Juanicipio project in Mexico due to new restrictions.
The company has suspended surface exploration and construction work at Juanicipio. Also, it temporarily decreased the work being done underground to a minimum and is requiring workers to follow strict hygienic precautionary measures.
"The health and safety of ALL people is of paramount importance in the face of this worldwide crisis," MAG President and CEO George Paspalas said in the release. "We applaud and support the Mexican government's resolve to affect the spread of COVID-19."
