NexGold Advances Goldboro Development With Construction Activities, Engineering, and Feasibility Study Work

NexGold Mining Corp. (NEXG:TSX.V; NXGCF:OTCQX; TRC1:FSE) reported progress on development activities at its 100%-owned, fully permitted Goldboro Gold Project in Nova Scotia, including early construction, engineering, procurement, exploration, and work on an updated Feasibility Study. In an October 27, 2026, news release, the company provided an update on activities through mid-October as it continued preparing for a potential construction decision.

"As we move closer to a potential construction decision on Goldboro, we continue to advance the Project across several key development areas," said Kevin Bullock, President, CEO, and Director of NexGold, in the company news release. "In addition to commencing early works construction activities in mid-September, we have made significant progress toward completion of the updated Feasibility Study, while continuing to advance mine planning, engineering, procurement, recruitment, community engagement, and exploration activities."

Early works construction activities commenced on September 17 following the award of a site preparation and early earthworks contract to Mi'kma'ki-Municipal Limited Partnership, a majority Indigenous-owned partnership involving Municipal Enterprises Limited, a subsidiary within the Municipal Group of Companies, and an affiliate of Dexter Construction Company Limited. NexGold also awarded seven site services contracts, several of which went to wholly owned or joint venture Mi'kmaw companies.

Work on the updated Feasibility Study included completion of mineral resource modeling and estimation for the updated open-pit Mineral Resource Estimate. The underground Mineral Resource Estimate remained in progress, with both estimates being incorporated into the study.

NexGold completed several geotechnical reports covering the mill site, site infrastructure, tailings management facility, and waste areas, along with a site-wide geotechnical data compilation report. The company also completed the updated mine plan, including optimization of ore, waste rock, and organics stockpiles and consideration of construction material requirements.

Additional technical work included completion of the water balance for the updated tailings management facility layout. NexGold continued discussions with Nova Scotia Power regarding long-term electricity supply options, including environmental and archaeological assessments of the proposed powerline route. The Nova Scotia Independent Energy System Operator completed a System Impact Study.

Preparation of technical report chapters continued, while final reviews of capital and operating cost estimates and the financial model remained underway.

Engineering activities included completion of issued-for-construction documentation for the Early Earthworks package and commencement of detailed engineering for the Site Earthworks contract scheduled to begin in early 2027.

The company also advanced detailed engineering for the process plant, issuing process flow diagrams, process design criteria, a mass balance, and a mechanical equipment list. Facility layouts continued to be finalized, while technical documentation was prepared to support potential early equipment procurement packages.

NexGold continued developing preliminary project execution materials, including draft schedules, management plans, procedures, and contract documentation, to support its evaluation of construction and execution strategies.

Procurement activities included issuing 16 long-lead equipment packages for bids, with proposals received for 13 packages. The company also evaluated proposals for the design, construction, and operation of an employee accommodation facility.

Exploration activities included completion of a 40,000-meter reverse circulation infill drilling program targeting areas accessible by drill rig within the first years of planned production. The program was designed to increase data density within key mining areas and support the evaluation of potential upgrades to Mineral Resource classifications.

In August, NexGold announced results from 85 drill holes totaling 3,591 meters. Reported intercepts included 5.26 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over 7.0 meters, including 31.29 g/t over 1.0 meter; 7.08 g/t gold over 5.0 meters, including 25.11 g/t over 1.0 meter; and 14.97 g/t gold over 2.0 meters.

Preliminary reverse circulation drilling results indicated comparable ranges of mineralized thicknesses and grades in certain intervals. However, verification, sampling, analytical review, and interpretation remained ongoing.

NexGold also completed two airborne geophysical surveys covering 32,007 hectares of prospective exploration land, according to the October 27 release. These included a 2,496-line-kilometer Versatile Time Domain Electromagnetic survey and a 2,656-line-kilometer FALCON gravity gradiometer survey. The surveys were designed to support additional exploration targeting and characterization of regional geological controls, with interpretation of the data continuing.

The company reported additional workforce development and community engagement activities, including recruitment of personnel for its Owner's Project Team. NexGold participated in four community recruitment events and seven university and college career fairs across Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Ontario.

Community activities included a quarterly Community Liaison Committee meeting in Goldboro, participation in the Nova Scotia Mi'kmaw Games, and events recognizing Truth and Reconciliation Day. NexGold also participated in a virtual Implementation Committee meeting with Kwilmu'kw Maw-klusuaqn to discuss project updates and priorities, including Mi'kmaq First initiatives and the Mining Essentials program in Unama'ki.

Gold Holds as Central Bank Buying Meets Fed Pressure

According to Trading Economics on October 29, gold traded at US$4,026.78 per ounce, declining US$41, or 1.01%, on the day. The precious metal had fallen 3.15% over the preceding month but remained 0.05% higher year over year. The decline followed the Federal Reserve's decision to leave interest rates unchanged at 4%, with two officials dissenting in favor of a 25-basis-point increase. The decision reinforced expectations of a possible December rate increase amid persistent inflation driven by elevated energy costs.

According to an October 28 analysis by Alexander Kuptsikevich of FXStreet, gold regained some ground as demand for risk assets recovered, although its relationship with financial markets had changed. Kuptsikevich explained that gold had historically been sensitive to real yields on U.S. Treasury bonds, but that relationship had weakened following the freezing of Russia's foreign exchange reserves in 2022. He noted that traditional correlations had returned during the first nine months of 2026 before shifting again in October, when gold declined alongside Treasury yields.

Kuptsikevich also highlighted the increasing influence of equity markets on gold prices, writing, "The equity market now plays a much greater role in gold's fortunes than it used to." He attributed part of this relationship to substantial capital flows into equities over the preceding four years and the use of gold as a source of liquidity to meet margin requirements.

National Bank Financial analyst Alex Terentiew maintained an "Outperform" rating on NexGold with a CA$5.50 per share price target.

A separate October 28 report by Kitco News journalist Neils Christensen examined the precious metals outlook presented by analysts at Sucden Financial. The analysts identified inflation, elevated Treasury yields, and expectations for restrictive Federal Reserve policy as pressures on gold. They stated, "The final quarter of 2026 has brought renewed macro pressure to commodity markets, with the Iran conflict pushing energy costs higher and complicating the outlook for monetary policy."

Despite these pressures, Sucden identified continued gold purchases by central banks and investment funds as sources of underlying demand. The analysts estimated that central banks purchased 289 tonnes of gold during the second quarter, including unreported transactions. China's central bank added another 23 tonnes to its reserves in September, bringing its year-to-date purchases to 103 tonnes and extending its accumulation streak to 23 consecutive months.

The analysts emphasized the importance of these purchases, stating, "Official-sector demand continues to provide the clearest fundamental floor." Although first-half central bank purchases were the weakest since 2022, Sucden reported that official-sector demand had strengthened in subsequent months.

Investment demand also remained substantial. According to Sucden, global gold-backed ETF holdings reached a record 101.55 million ounces in mid-October and remained near 101 million ounces despite recent price declines. Meanwhile, managed-money net-long positioning fell to a four-month low, reflecting more cautious sentiment among speculative traders.

The analysts distinguished between longer-term investment activity and short-term trading behavior, noting that central bank and ETF accumulation continued even as speculative positioning weakened.

Analysts Highlight Goldboro Milestones and Goldlund Exploration

NexGold Mining Corp. received favorable assessments from two analysts during August and September, with both maintaining positive ratings and identifying the company's gold projects as central to their evaluations.

In an August 26 research report, Red Cloud Securities analyst Ron Stewart reaffirmed his "BUY (S)" rating and CA$4.30 per share price target. His valuation incorporated discounted cash flow analyses of the Goldboro Gold Project and Goliath Gold Complex, alongside an in-situ valuation of the Niblack project.

Stewart also examined drilling results from the Goldlund deposit within the Goliath Gold Complex. "In our view, these results demonstrate that there are high-grade portions of the deposit," he wrote. Goldlund accounted for approximately 60% of the complex's 2.9 million ounces of gold resources, according to the analyst, who also discussed the possibility of underground development targeting additional resources at depth.

Looking ahead, Stewart identified several milestones in NexGold's development plans, including updated mineral resource estimates and a feasibility study at Goldboro, continued exploration and permitting at Goliath, project financing arrangements for Goldboro, and a final investment decision.

Additional analyst coverage followed on September 17, when National Bank Financial analyst Alex Terentiew maintained an "Outperform" rating on NexGold with a CA$5.50 per share price target, according to The Globe and Mail.

Goldboro Construction Decision, Updated Feasibility Study, and Goliath Exploration Programs

NexGold's October 2026 corporate presentation outlined development activities across its Goldboro Gold Project in Nova Scotia and Goliath Gold Complex in Ontario. The company identified a potential construction decision at Goldboro during 2026, alongside technical studies, financing arrangements, engineering, procurement, and exploration programs at both properties.

At Goldboro, the company outlined plans to update its Mineral Resource Estimate using recently completed infill drilling. The updated estimate forms part of a broader technical program that also includes an updated Feasibility Study incorporating revised operating expenditures, capital expenditures, and gold price assumptions.

The October 27 news release established a target of completing the updated Feasibility Study by the end of the fourth quarter of 2026. The study is intended to provide updated technical and economic information for NexGold's board of directors as it evaluates a potential final investment decision.

The updated study also relates to the company's previously announced non-binding letter of intent with Appian Capital Advisory Limited concerning US$175 million in potential project financing. NexGold identified finalizing financing arrangements as one of its remaining project development activities ahead of a potential construction decision.

The presentation also outlined organizational and project execution initiatives at Goldboro. These include expanding internal organizational capacity and working with project partners, finalizing contracting and procurement strategies, and developing detailed project schedules.

Engineering activities remain part of the development program, with NexGold planning to advance detailed engineering to address construction requirements and scheduling. The company also identified procurement of long-lead equipment as a development priority.

The early works construction program, which commenced in September 2026, includes establishing environmental controls and maintaining traditional community recreational access during the planned construction period.

Specific early works activities include construction of elements of a public-access bypass road, including installation of culverts at water crossings, and installation of sediment and erosion control infrastructure.

The program also includes tree clearing for the employee accommodation facility pad, till and organics stockpiles, sedimentation ponds and construction management facilities. Mobilization of site services contractors is another component of the early works program.

NexGold's Goldboro infrastructure plans include a fully lined tailings storage facility designed for 16.4 million tonnes of tailings and 10.8 million tonnes of co-placed waste rock.

The project layout also includes waste rock storage areas designed for 122 million tonnes of waste, organic stockpile areas, water management infrastructure, a carbon-in-pulp process plant incorporating a gravity circuit, and a public road diversion. Planned employee accommodation facilities are designed to house up to 350 personnel during construction and 175 personnel during operations. NexGold's presentation describes the infrastructure as being contained within a single watershed, an approach the company expects to reduce environmental impacts and simplify permitting.

Goldboro's exploration program includes detailed, close-spaced infill drilling intended to define potential near-surface Mineral Resources. The company also identified exploration for additional deposits and mineral resources as part of its 2026 activities.

The October presentation reported that Goldboro contains approximately 2.6 million ounces of measured and indicated gold resources, comprising 21.593 million tonnes grading 3.72 g/t gold. The project also contains approximately 484,000 ounces of inferred gold resources within 3.181 million tonnes grading 4.73 g/t.

The company identified four high-priority exploration targets through its analysis of historical data and geophysical surveys. Gold mineralization has been traced along more than 3.4 kilometers of strike, while the deepest hole drilled reached approximately 550 meters.

NexGold's existing 2022 Feasibility Study outlines a 10.9-year open-pit mine life with average annual gold production of approximately 100,000 ounces. The study estimates initial capital costs of CA$271 million, an after-tax net present value at a 5% discount rate of CA$328 million, and an after-tax internal rate of return of 25.5%, based on a gold price assumption of US$1,600 per ounce.

The study also estimates average gold recovery of 95.8%, life-of-mine operating cash costs of US$773 per ounce, and all-in sustaining costs of US$849 per ounce. These figures are based on the existing study rather than the updated Feasibility Study currently in preparation.

The existing mine plan begins with open-pit production and includes underground development beginning in year six. The company identified additional underground resource drilling and evaluation as components of its longer-term Goldboro development plans.
