Decade Resources Ltd. (DEC:TSX.V;DECXF:OTCPK) reports porphyry intersections in all bedrock holes at Bonaparte, including holes 1.2 km apart, with DDH-BN-6 in potassic alteration and chalcopyrite; 3 x 4 km IP anomaly remains largely untested.

Decade Resources Ltd. (DEC:TSX.V; DECXF:OTCPK) announced on October 8, 2026, that drilling at its Bonaparte copper-gold property in British Columbia has intersected porphyry dykes in every hole that reached bedrock, including two holes collared 1.2 km (kilometers) apart, with the system appearing more than 2 km wide.

Key Investor Takeaways

  • Every completed hole reaching bedrock at Bonaparte has intersected porphyry-style alteration and mineralization, supporting a large target area.
  • DDH-BN-6 shows three key porphyry-center signatures: strong potassic alteration, chalcopyrite, and hydrothermal breccia.
  • The 3 x 4 km IP anomaly offers substantial untested ground for copper-molybdenum-gold potential in a proven porphyry belt.
  • Program expansion to at least 4,000 m and land increase to 5,549 ha (hectares) reflects aggressive pursuit following initial positive indications.
  • Over 1,300 soil samples collected in 2026 provide additional data for future targeting.
  • Management expressed excitement about the scale of the target and plans to continue drilling while the weather allows.

Latest Bonaparte Drilling Results

Five holes totaling 2,000 m have been completed, and drilling continues on DDH-BN-6. Key observations include porphyry dykes within highly altered rock featuring phyllic, propylitic, and potassic alteration. DDH-BN-6 is currently in strongly potassic altered rock containing chalcopyrite and hydrothermal breccia, which are features typical of a porphyry center. In the release, Decade cautioned that these are visual observations, with assay results pending.

Highlights from the release include:

  • Five drill holes totaling 2,000 m have been completed at the Bonaparte property.
  • 100% of holes that reached bedrock intersected porphyry dykes within highly altered rock.
  • DDH-BN-2 and DDH-BN-5 were collared 1.2 km apart, and both intersected porphyry dykes.
  • DDH-BN-2 encountered mineralized porphyry 400 m east of DDH-BN-1.
  • The main induced polarization (IP) anomaly measures approximately 3 x 4 km.
  • The porphyry system along the Cooler Creek valley appears to be more than 2 km wide based on drilling and surface mapping.
  • The Bonaparte property covers 5,549 hectares across six mineral claims.
  • The property is located approximately 50 km north of Kamloops, British Columbia.
  • The 2026 field program collected more than 1,300 soil samples.
  • DDH-BN-6 is currently in progress, with drilling targeting strongly potassic-altered rock containing chalcopyrite and hydrothermal breccia.
  • DDH-BN-3 will be redrilled after the original hole was lost in overburden before reaching bedrock.

The Bonaparte property consists of six mineral claims totaling 5,549 ha. Surface mapping and drilling indicate a large porphyry system along the Cooler Creek valley, more than 2 km wide. The Discovery Area appears related to a second porphyry event. Drilling will continue as weather permits, with DDH-BN-3 to be redrilled and results expected as holes are completed and assays received. The company also completed surface sampling on the east side of the claims, about 5 km from the drill area.

Ed Kruchkowski, President of Decade Resources, said in the release, "Every hole that has reached bedrock has hit porphyry, including two holes 1.2 km apart, and DDH-BN-6 is now in strongly potassic rock with chalcopyrite and hydrothermal breccia. That is the pattern we hoped to see, and we would expect these features near the center of a porphyry system. The program has been successful in encountering mineralized porphyry as well as outlining the areas for future exploration. We are pleased and excited to have such a large target area for potential copper-molybdenum-gold mineralization, and we have a lot of ground left to test along a 3 x 4 km anomaly. Drilling will continue as weather conditions have been very mild, allowing for continued exploration, and we look forward to reporting results as they come in."

Decade Resources Ltd. is a Canadian-based mineral exploration company actively seeking opportunities in the resource sector, with properties and projects mostly located in British Columbia's Golden Triangle.

Copper Remains a Critical Metal

Demand for copper is expected to increase as data-center construction, power-grid investment, electric vehicles, and defense applications expand. A 2026 study from S&P Global projected that global copper demand will rise from approximately 28 million metric tons in 2025 to 42 million metric tons by 2040, representing an increase of about 50%. The study identified core economic activity and energy source transitions as the largest reasons for additional demand, while AI data centers and defense represent emerging demand drivers.

Supply growth remains a consideration as demand expands. In a separate January 2026 report, S&P Global argued that, without significant additions to global supply, the copper market could face a shortfall of approximately 10 million metric tons by 2040. The study projects that mined copper production could peak around 2030 before declining as existing mines age, while recycled copper would cover only part of the additional demand. The International Energy Agency also continues to track copper as a critical mineral, with its 2026 Critical Minerals Data Explorer providing updated projections for copper demand under multiple energy and technology scenarios.

Technical analyst Stewart Thomson gave Decade a "Strong Speculative Buy" rating.1

U.S. trade policy has also affected copper markets and inventories. On April 2, 2026, the White House modified the Section 232 tariff regime for copper, among other metals, so that applicable duties would generally be assessed on the full customs value of covered products rather than only their metal content. The proclamation established additional duties ranging from 10% to 50%, depending on the product, its origin, and its treatment under the applicable provisions.

The tariff changes have contributed to unusual flows of copper into the United States. Reuters reported in August 2026 that U.S. copper imports had reached 885,000 metric tons during the first half of 2026, while COMEX inventories had climbed to a record 675,185 tons as traders responded to the prospect of future tariffs on refined copper. At the same time, copper prices on the London Metal Exchange approached record levels, illustrating how U.S. tariff expectations have affected the distribution of available metal even as the broader global market remained sensitive to supply disruptions and demand growth.

U.S. copper supply remains an important consideration for the domestic market. The U.S. Geological Survey's 2026 Mineral Commodity Summaries estimated U.S. mine production at approximately 1 million metric tons in 2025, down from 1.05 million metric tons in 2024, while refined copper production was estimated at 850,000 metric tons. The USGS also added copper to the U.S. critical minerals list in 2025.

Decade Has Surpassed Its Short-Term Price Target

1On April 24, 2026, technical analyst Stewart Thomson gave Decade a "Strong Speculative Buy" rating. Thomson's short-term price target is CA$0.14, his medium-term target is CA$0.25, and his long-term target is CA$0.60. As of October 8, 2026, the company has surpassed the short-term target, trading at CA$0.15.

Thomson wrote, "Trading volume has increased since the summer of 2025 ... A pullback to the trendline has occurred, marking a potential entry point for speculators. Volume is more consistent than in the past, also a bullish sign."

Most recently, on October 8, 2026, Bob Moriarty of 321gold.com weighed in on the company, writing, "For investors who have waited patiently for drilling, Decade has drilled and hit at the Bonaparte porphyry copper target in Northern BC. Based on visual inspection of the core from the completed holes, it appears Decade had hit their target with porphyry material discovered in holes spaced 1.2 km apart. A few shareholders who belong to the "'buy the rumor, sell the news' team are holding the stock price down, but actual assays coming soon will move the needle."

Fair Weather Permitting Further Exploration

According to the release, "Drilling continues at DDH-BN-6, and DDH-BN-3 will be redrilled at its original location. Weather conditions have been very mild, which is allowing exploration to continue. Shareholders can expect news from Bonaparte as DDH-BN-6 is completed, DDH-BN-3 is redrilled, and assay results are received."

Q: What is a porphyry copper-gold deposit?
A: A porphyry copper-gold deposit is a large mineral system in which copper, gold, molybdenum, and other metals are dispersed through or around intrusive igneous rocks. Porphyry deposits can cover large areas and are important sources of copper worldwide.

Q: What is potassic alteration in a porphyry system?
A: Potassic alteration occurs when hot, mineral-rich fluids alter rocks around an intrusive body, typically producing minerals such as potassium feldspar and biotite. Strong potassic alteration can be an important geological indicator of the central or proximal parts of a porphyry copper-gold system.

Q: What is an induced polarization (IP) anomaly in mineral exploration?
A: An induced polarization, or IP, anomaly is a geophysical response that can indicate the presence of electrically chargeable materials in the subsurface, including certain sulfide minerals associated with mineralization. At Decade Resources' Bonaparte property, the main IP anomaly measures approximately 3 x 4 km and provides a large area for further exploration.

Q: What is chalcopyrite, and why is it important in copper exploration?
A: Chalcopyrite is a copper-iron sulfide mineral and one of the most important sources of copper ore. Its presence in altered rock can indicate copper mineralization, although visual identification of chalcopyrite in drill core does not establish the grade or economic significance of a deposit; laboratory assays are required.

Q: What is hydrothermal breccia in a porphyry copper system?
A: Hydrothermal breccia is broken rock that has been fractured and cemented by hot, mineral-rich fluids. In porphyry systems, hydrothermal breccias can form around zones of intense fluid activity and may be associated with copper, gold, molybdenum, and other mineralization. At Bonaparte, hydrothermal breccia occurs with strongly potassic-altered rock and chalcopyrite in DDH-BN-6.
