GoldCoast Resource Corp. (GCR:CSE; GCRFF:OTCQB) announced that its common shares have been approved to commence trading on the OTCQB Venture Market under the ticker GCRFF, according to a September 29 release.
The Canadian exploration company targeting offshore gold in Ghana will continue trading on the CSE under GCR, with the OTCQB listing aimed at enhancing visibility and liquidity for U.S. investors in a gold market showing constructive longer-term forecasts.
A Wider Door for US Investors
The press release highlights the benefits of OTCQB trading, including efficient broker access, real-time quotes, and broader disclosure. Chief Executive Officer Michael Nikiforuk stated the move will raise the company's profile among U.S. investors and support liquidity as it advances offshore gold programs in Ghana. GoldCoast holds a 10,000-square-kilometer reconnaissance license covering about 53% of Ghana's offshore coastline, described as a unique setting where three major gold-bearing rivers converge on a shallow continental shelf.
"We believe trading on the OTCQB will enhance our liquidity and visibility in global capital markets," Nikiforuk said. "As we advance our offshore gold exploration programs in Ghana, we look forward to keeping the market informed as we reach key milestones."
The shares are also eligible for electronic clearing and settlement through the Depository Trust Company, a subsidiary of the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation. The company expects DTC eligibility to make trading and settlement simpler for U.S. investors and brokers and to improve the stock's liquidity in the United States.
A Coastline Built for Gold
GoldCoast is targeting offshore gold in Ghana, Africa's largest gold-producing country, the release said. Its license area is where three major rivers meet on a shallow continental shelf — the only place on Earth where that happens, according to the company.
Over interglacial periods, those rivers carried gold-rich sediment eroded from world-class gold belts. Recovering minerals from loose marine sediments is an established industry, with long-running examples including Debmarine Namibia's marine diamond operations, PT Timah Tbk's (TINS:IDX) offshore tin operations in Indonesia, and the UK's Crown Estate marine aggregates sector. GoldCoast's coastal sampling program earlier this year recovered visible gold at multiple sites along 50 kilometers of the shoreline.
Gold Market Status: Off the Peak, Still Pointing Up
As of September 29, spot gold traded near US$4,160 per ounce, down from its all-time high of approximately US$5,590 reached on January 28, according to MetalCharts. Despite the correction, forecasters still see upside over the longer term, driven by central bank buying, geopolitical factors, and structural demand.
FXEmpire's September 21 outlook projects a three-to-six-month target of US$4,800 to US$5,275 and a 12-plus-month range of US$5,600 to US$6,000. The forecaster called its near-term view neutral, saying a Federal Reserve rate hike, a strong U.S. dollar, and a 10-year Treasury yield near 5% continue to limit gold's recovery, and that a move above US$4,530 could open the way toward US$4,800.
ICICI Bank, in a late-September 2026 report, expects gold to trade in the US$4,200 to US$4,600 range for the remainder of 2026 with a marginal upside bias into the first half of 2027, supported by investment demand and central bank purchases, The Economic Times reported.
Newsletter Writer: Two Years to Production, Not 15
Writing for Streetwise Reports on August 12, Ron Struthers of Struthers Resource Stock Report said, "If there is one place on earth that is best for gold production with dredging, GoldCoast probably has it."
He said GoldCoast Resource Corp.'s dredging strategy could shorten the path to production while reducing upfront capital needs, with the company targeting a startup in 2028, as dredging can reach production in about two years versus the 10 to 15 years often required for conventional mines.
GoldCoast expects to spend about US$9 million to reach a production decision, while dredging offers a proven extraction method with more than a century of development. Struthers cited Mineros S.A. (MSA:TSX; MNSAF:OTCQX), a Colombian producer with a market cap of around CA$1.9 billion at the time he wrote the report (its market cap has since increased to CA$2.8 billion), as a comparable example, with its Nechí Property guided to produce 83,000 to 93,000 ounces in 2026.
Mineros expects its Nechí alluvial operation to produce 83,000 to 93,000 ounces in 2026, roughly 38% of its companywide guidance of 220,000 to 240,000 ounces, according to the company's July 7 release. Struthers said GoldCoast could lease dredges, fund costs from production, and expand its fleet as cash flow grows.
Struthers also highlighted GoldCoast's target of free gold recoverable through gravity separation, with potential added value from other heavy minerals. He said substantial deposits and a move into production could support significantly higher shares, while cautioning that the recently listed stock remains difficult to assess in the near term and suggesting initial purchases around CA$1.
