Steadright Builds Critical Minerals Portfolio in Morocco and Canada

On September 11, 2026, Steadright Critical Minerals Inc. (SCM:CSE; SCMNF:OTCQB) announced that it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire up to a 75% interest in the Peribonka rare earth element (REE) and niobium carbonatite project in Quebec's Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. The project consists of 37 contiguous claims and is located within an alkaline intrusive district that hosts the Niobec mine, Canada's only producing niobium operation.

The Peribonka property covers an ovoid magnetic anomaly interpreted as a potential carbonatite or alkaline intrusive body. According to the release, historical data identified anomalous trace REE values at surface, while the underlying bedrock is estimated to sit approximately 30 to 60 m (meters) below thin alluvial sand deposits. The company stated that the anomaly has not been tested by drilling, despite its similarities to other niobium- and tantalum-bearing systems in the region.

The project is located near existing infrastructure, including roads, power lines, and port access. Regional targets include the Crevier niobium-tantalum nepheline syenite dike, as well as the Shipshaw and Falardeau carbonatites.

Under the September 8, 2026, option agreement, Steadright can acquire a 75% undivided interest in the property, with Critical Foundation Metals retaining a 25% carried interest. Consideration includes the issuance of 1 million Steadright common shares at CA$0.12 per share, split equally between the two vendors. The vendors will also retain a 3.5% net smelter royalty, of which Steadright can repurchase 1.5% for CA$2.5 million.

According to the agreement, Steadright is required to spend at least CA$400,000 on exploration or development by October 30, 2027. The company will also finance up to CA$1 million in exploration expenditures on behalf of Critical Foundation Metals under the interest arrangement. If the minimum spending requirement is not met, the vendors can regain 100% ownership of the mineral claims, while previously issued shares and the NSR would remain with the vendors.

Steadright Critical Minerals is a mineral exploration company that has been focused on finding exploration and historical mining projects that can be brought into production within the critical minerals space.

Critical Minerals Supply Chains Drive Interest in REEs and Niobium

Rare earth elements (REEs) and niobium have gained attention as governments and manufacturers seek to diversify critical-mineral supply chains. The International Energy Agency (IEA) identifies rare earth elements as essential to permanent magnets. These metals are used in electric vehicle motors and wind turbines, while also noting that concentrated supply chains can create vulnerabilities for industries dependent on these materials.

Supply concentration is particularly relevant for niobium. According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Brazil accounted for roughly 93% of global niobium production in 2025, while Canada represented about 5%. The report also identified Brazil and Canada as the major producers of niobium mineral concentrates, establishing how small the producing market really is.

REE supply chains face similar limiting risks. In a separate report, the IEA argued that rare earth elements have become increasingly important to energy, aerospace, defense, and advanced electronics applications, while their highly concentrated supply chains have elevated their importance to economic security.

For North America, and Canada specifically, the development of domestic critical mineral resources has become part of a broader effort to strengthen supply chains. The Canadian government identified Quebec as a province with advanced projects, mines, and processing facilities involving a range of critical minerals, including rare earth elements and niobium. The government hopes that this regional infrastructure and established mining expertise could provide a foundation for additional exploration targeting critical minerals in the province.

Analyst Highlights Untested Peribonka Exploration Target

Riley Venton of Atrium Research provided a research report update on Steadright on September 11, 2026, reiterating a "Buy" rating and a price target of CA$0.50.

Venton wrote, "We view the acquisition as a low-cost opportunity for Steadright to secure a potentially significant critical-minerals exploration target in an established alkaline intrusive district. Importantly, the project remains completely untested by drilling, providing meaningful exploration upside should the underlying magnetic anomaly be confirmed as a mineralized carbonatite or intrusive body."

The analyst ended his report expressing excitement over the upcoming exploration plans from Steadright.

Morocco Projects Advancing as Peribonka Enters Pipeline

According to the company's investor presentation, Steadright's near-term catalysts include advancing its portfolio of critical-mineral assets in Morocco, particularly the TitanBeach titanium project. Recent company updates indicate that the project has received a mining license and that preparatory infrastructure work for a pilot plant and potential mining has begun. Steadright's portfolio also includes the historic Goundafa polymetallic mine, Copper Valley, and SilverLine Mining Sarl.

The company's project pipeline has since expanded to include the Peribonka REE-niobium carbonatite project in Quebec, where Steadright has an option to acquire up to a 75% interest.
