Silver North Resources Ltd. (SNAG:TSX.V; TARSF:OTCQB) reported that it completed its 2026 field program at the Veronica Property in Yukon's Silvertip District. The program included comprehensive soil geochemical sampling, mapping, and prospecting, and was designed to build on work completed in 2025.
The 2025 program identified silver mineralization in float and outcrop within stratigraphy that appears prospective for Carbonate Replacement Deposit, or CRD, style mineralization similar to that seen at Coeur Mining Inc.'s (CDE:NYSE) Silvertip Mine Project, located 11 kilometers southwest of Veronica.
Silver North's primary objective for the 2026 program was to expand an open-ended multi-element soil geochemical anomaly covering an area of 1.2 kilometers by 1 kilometer. Detailed prospecting and mapping were also completed within the anomaly to further understand and expand the Lodge and Cooper showings. Previous work returned 2,860 g/t silver from mineralized float at the Lodge showing and 33.2 g/t silver from an outcropping northeast-trending fault.
The company also investigated several target areas defined by airborne magnetics and VTEM geophysical anomalies. Contour soil geochemical lines were completed in selected areas of the southern half of the project where anomalous soil geochemical results coincide with magnetics and VTEM conductivity anomalies.
Silver North collected 1,112 soil geochemical samples during the program, including 60 samples from the adjacent Tim Property, as well as 53 rock samples. The company is now awaiting analytical results from the program. Silver North said the results will be reported after they are received, incorporated into the Veronica database, and interpreted together with geophysical data and lithological mapping from the 2026 program.
Silver Sector Faces Rate Pressure as Yearly Gains Remain Strong
According to a September 14 report from FX Empire, silver came under pressure as higher oil prices and expectations for tighter Federal Reserve monetary policy weighed on the metal. Author James Hyerczyk wrote that "Oil above US$100 is a Silver Problem," as higher energy prices contributed to inflation concerns and strengthened expectations for higher interest rates. He noted that "Higher oil keeps inflation elevated. The Fed stays in play. Treasury yields stay high."
Hyerczyk reported that spot silver traded at US$63.55 per ounce at 7:30 GMT, down 1.47% for the session. He also pointed to the interaction between interest rates and precious metals, writing that "Silver pays for all of that and gets nothing back because the metal carries no yield." The report said hotter August inflation data and rising crude oil prices had increased expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike ahead of its September decision.
Trading Economics reported the same day that silver had struggled below US$64 per ounce after declining for three consecutive weeks, with higher oil prices and expectations for tighter Federal Reserve policy weighing on the market. Despite the recent decline, its data showed silver had gained 46.58% over the preceding year. The source described silver as "a widely traded precious metal with both industrial and investment applications" and said it had been used extensively in electronics, solar panels, and medical technologies while also serving as a store of value and portfolio diversification tool.
FXStreet also reported on September 14 that silver had traded around US$63.50 per troy ounce during Asian trading as expectations for a Federal Reserve rate increase rose following August inflation data. The report stated that "Non-yielding Silver is currently facing significant headwinds driven by rising Federal Reserve (Fed) rate-hike expectations for the upcoming September decision." It said financial markets had priced in an 87% probability of a quarter-point rate increase, compared with 59% the previous week.
FXStreet further reported that higher energy prices had contributed to inflation concerns. Analysts cited in the report said "oil prices are rising again on news of the shutdown of Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline following drone strikes," while also noting that "bond yields surged late last week on rising oil and inflation (and debt) concerns." The report said these developments had added to the monetary policy pressures affecting the silver market.
Exploration Work Extends Across Veronica, Haldane, and Tim
Silver North's February 2026 presentation identified Veronica as a high-priority target for 2026 exploration. The presentation described the property's Betty soil anomaly as measuring 1 kilometer by 1.2 kilometers following a 2025 program that more than doubled its size. The anomaly was described as open to the east and possibly south, with coincident silver-lead-zinc geochemistry. Prospecting had identified silver-lead mineralization in float and silver mineralization in outcrop within the anomaly.
At the Haldane Silver Project, the presentation stated that the 2025 program extended the Main Fault footprint to at least 100 meters of strike length and 300 meters down dip from surface. The 2026 program was planned to focus on building down dip and along strike. The field season was scheduled to begin in late Q1 or early Q2 with airborne geophysics intended to help refine Main Fault targeting, while planning called for two drills operating for four to five months starting as soon as possible.
The presentation also described work at the Main Fault following the 2025 drilling program. Hole HLD25-31, the first hole of the 2025 program, was described as a 90-meter test down dip of hole 30 and intersected 13.15 meters, averaging 818 g/t silver, 1.39 g/t gold, 2.54% lead, and 0.98% zinc. Drilling extended mineralization an additional 50 meters along strike from the discovery section.
At the West Fault, the presentation stated that five holes drilled in 2021 tested along strike and down dip at nominal 50-meter step-outs, adding 100 meters of strike and 90 meters of dip direction. Mineralization was described as open to depth and on strike, with veins occurring in two structural levels.
The Tim Property, located 19 kilometers from Coeur Mining's Silvertip Mine, is 100% owned by Silver North following Coeur Mining's termination of its option agreement in May 2026. Under the former option agreement, Coeur was to complete US$3.55 million in exploration over five years, make US$575,000 in cash payments, and complete a feasibility study by the eighth anniversary to earn an 80% interest. The presentation also stated that Coeur had recently completed a 2,250-meter, six-hole drill program targeting the Wolf Fault and that drilling results confirmed the presence of a productive CRD system.
