Decade Resources Ltd. (DEC:TSX.V; DECXF:OTCMKTS) expands its Bonaparte copper-gold drill program to 4,000 meters, targeting a large IP anomaly and new porphyry exploration area.

Key Takeaways

  • Decade Resources has expanded drilling at its Bonaparte copper-gold project to 4,000 meters following results from its first deep drill hole.
  • The company is targeting a large IP anomaly measuring approximately 3 by 4 kilometers in the southwestern part of Bonaparte.
  • Two new claims have increased Decade's Bonaparte land package by 1,400 hectares to 5,549 hectares.
  • Newly identified porphyry outcrops 5 kilometers east of the drill area have returned visual evidence of fine chalcopyrite mineralization.
  • More than 750 soil samples and 30 rock samples collected during a recent survey are awaiting assay results.
  • Additional drilling, sampling, and assays could help define the scale and controls of copper-gold mineralization at Bonaparte.

New Porphyry Target Identified East of Drill Area

On September 9, 2026, Decade Resources Ltd. (DEC:TSX.V; DECXF:OTCMKTS) announced that it is expanding exploration at its Bonaparte copper-gold property in British Columbia, Canada. The decision follows results from the company’s first deep drill hole on the project, DDH 1.

The company said it will add 1,000 m (meters) to its current drill program, bringing planned drilling to a minimum of 4,000 m. The goal is to target a large induced polarization (IP) chargeability anomaly in the southwestern portion of the property, measuring roughly 3 km by 4 km, and remains largely untested at depth. Decade said that mineralization encountered to date appears spatially associated with strong chargeability highs and resistivity anomalies. However, the historic geophysical results have not been verified by a Qualified Person and are not being treated as current.

In other news, Decade has also expanded its land position by staking two new claims, totaling 1,400 hectares and increasing the Bonaparte property to 5,549 hectares. The company hopes that the new claims will cover prospective extensions of the property.

A second exploration front is underway approximately 5 km east of the current drill area. Surface outcrops in the area contain intensely altered feldspar porphyry with fine chalcopyrite mineralization. Decade is conducting surface sampling and has submitted samples for laboratory analysis, with results pending.

Bonaparte covers 5,549 hectares, approximately 50 km north of Kamloops, B.C., within the Kamloops Mining Division and a regional belt that hosts porphyry copper deposits, including Highland Valley and New Afton.

A Canadian company, Decade Resources Ltd., is dedicated to exploring mineralization in the Golden Triangle area of British Columbia and owns multiple projects in various stages of development.

Copper Demand Remains a Key Sector Driver

Demand for copper is expected to rise due to continued use in electronics, especially with the widespread construction of new data centers and defense applications in the U.S. A report from Businessworld claimed that "global copper demand is gradually shifting towards strategic and less price-sensitive sectors such as AI infrastructure, defense, power grids, and clean energy systems. By 2040, these categories are expected to account for nearly 45% of total copper demand, up from 32% in 2024."

Last year, the prospect of President Donald Trump's tariffs helped drive copper prices higher in the U.S. as American buyers stockpiled the metal. This contributed to elevated inventories and a widening premium between U.S. futures and physical copper markets. "Collectively, inventories at the world's main exchanges have risen by more than 500,000 tons since the start of the year," stated a March 6 article by Bloomberg News

Trump's July 30, 2025, proclamation imposed a 50% Section 232 tariff on the value of the copper content of covered semi-finished copper and copper-intensive derivative products, effective August 1, 2025. Effective April 6, 2026, the U.S. expanded its Section 232 tariff regime so that applicable duties on covered copper products were generally calculated on the full customs value rather than solely on the copper content. The change contributed to a sharp narrowing of the COMEX copper premium. The 2025 proclamation also called for consideration of a phased universal tariff on refined copper of 15% starting in 2027 and 30% starting in 2028.

The metals sector as a whole is also showing signs of improvement. On May 7, 2026, Brian Taylor of Recycling Today said that the World Bank Group has projected that its metals and minerals price index will rise 17% in 2026.

Expert Commentary Focuses on Bonaparte's Next Steps

1On April 24, 2026, technical analyst Stewart Thomson gave Decade a "Strong Speculative Buy" rating. Thomson's short-term price target is CA$0.14, his medium-term target is CA$0.25, and his long-term target is CA$0.60. As of September 9, 2026, the company has surpassed the short-term target, trading at CA$0.17.

Thomson wrote, "Trading volume has increased since the summer of 2025 . . . A pullback to the trendline has occurred, marking a potential entry point for speculators. Volume is more consistent than in the past, also a bullish sign."

Most recently, on September 1, 2026, Bob Moriarty of 321gold.com weighed in on the company, writing: "From a strictly technical point of view, the hole was a 100% success based on the visuals. Company President and Director Ed Kruchkowski has done nothing more than follow up on drilling a buried porphyry first proposed by the geologists from the British Columbia Geological Survey as far back as 2013. This first hole has hit the core of the target, as shown by the presence of moly. We shall see what the assays say about copper and gold, but visually they should be there."

Moriarty then said, "The shares are up 65% in the first day, and it is still absurdly cheap."

Assays and Follow-Up Drilling Ahead

In late July, a contract sampling crew completed a soil sampling survey over the southern portion of the indicated IP anomaly, collecting over 750 soil samples and 30 rock samples.

Assays remain pending and will be released as they become available.
