This annum appears like a wild ride for commodity speculators. The dawn of the year witnessed gold surpassing US$5,500 and silver gliding past US$120 per troy ounce. Following a meteoric ascent supporting the precious metals, an adjustment was both fitting and imperative. We experienced it. The eighth month delivered a pleasant rebound not only to the metals but also to the junior speculative equities. The marketplace is starting to recognize the immense leverage the junior speculative stocks present to metal values.
I penned a piece about one of my sponsors on July 9. The equity traded at CA$0.56 when the article was released. And although I would adore taking credit for the climb in the ensuing month to a zenith of CA$1.42, truthfully, I had nearly zero influence. While the firm indeed struck a scorching 788 meters of 0.54% CuEq, the actual bulletin was a fresh recruit by the enterprise. Hercules Metals Corp. (BADEF:OTCMKTS; BIG:TSXV) onboarded six of the absolute premier executives who had propelled Arizona Sonoran from an inferred valuation of CA$125 million in July 2021 to an acquisition by Hudbay Minerals for roughly CA$2 billion in 2026.
Hercules founder and CEO Chris Paul subdued his pride and persuaded one of the preeminent teams in mining to enlist with the company as a unit and to contribute CA$4.5 million of their personal capital as well. That's what you might dub a colossal vote of assurance in the endeavor and the wisdom of Chris Paul. Speculators pounced on the equity instantly, spotting the identical great opportunity the leadership team perceived.
Not to be surpassed, BCM Resources Corp. (B:TSX.V; BCMRF:OTCMKTS) proclaimed over 550 meters of robust mineralization at their Thompson Knolls three weeks prior on August 6. The shares that had languished at CA$0.13 a week earlier vaulted higher to an apex of CA$0.77 predicated on visual assessment of the core. Assays are anticipated for validation.
Westward Gold Inc. (WG:CSE; WGLIF:OTC; IM50:FSE) made an analogous move. Exchanging hands at CA$0.135 on July 31, the firm reported assay outcomes from trenching on August 4. The company pursued drill results from beneath the trenching on August 18 and again on August 25, signifying what looks to be discovery holes on a potential major Carlin-style gold find. The equity catapulted higher on the intelligence by nearly 200% to a fresh peak of CA$0.395.
On August 31, Decade Resources Ltd. (DEC:TSX.V; DEXCF:OTCMKTS) issued a press release about the inaugural hole they had bored in a Phase 1 Drill program at their 80% option on their Bonaparte project in the Kamloops Mining Division of British Columbia. The Phase 1 scheme is for drilling 3,000 meters into a High Chargeability Anomaly. It is the very first deep hole punched into the suspected copper/gold porphyry.
From a purely technical standpoint, the hole was a 100% triumph based on the visuals. Company President and Director Ed Kruchkowski has done nothing more than follow up on drilling a buried porphyry first proposed by the geologists from the British Columbia Geological Survey as far back as 2013. This initial hole has hit the core of the target, as shown by the presence of moly. We shall see what the assays say about copper and gold, but visually, they should be there.
The inaugural hole was comparatively flat and terminated in mineralization. When you drill relatively flat holes, you squander the advantage gravity affords you. The 2nd hole will be more inclined. The hole entered the core of the system targeted at 557 meters and bottomed at 621.6 meters. Ed will want to delve deeper on hole 2.
The cost of the shares today is one of those good news, bad news narratives. There are seven million warrants that cease on September 10 at CA$0.08. That's only seven trading days away. Naturally, Ed would favor those warrants getting exercised; it would bring in CA$560,000 in cash from speculators who have been patient for a long, long time.
Additionally, there are another just over twenty million warrants at CA$0.08 that expire on December 3. We can disregard them for now; those holders won't be in any rush to exercise in the same way the September 10 warrant holders will be. I highly suspect many of the shares being exchanged on the first day after the press release emerged are warrant holders selling to pick up the warrants at a 100% profit.
When that selling is satiated, I see the shares going much higher. This is a real discovery hole. The shares were inexpensive when I last wrote about Decade in January. As long as warrant holders continue to sell shares to exercise their warrants, there will be an overhang, but this looks as if it is going to be a giant porphyry copper/gold discovery. The shares are up 65% on the first day, and it is still absurdly cheap.
The firm has finished over 750 soil samples and 30 rock grab samples. Those have been submitted for assay.
Decade Resources is a sponsor. I have bought a lot of shares in the open market, so naturally, I am partial. The company has done an excellent job of refreshing its website, and prospective speculators should visit the site. My sole suggestion to Ed would be to contemplate doing a rollback at the same time he proclaims the assay outcomes. The share count is absurdly high, with 126 million warrants on top of 251 million shares issued and outstanding.
