Decade Resources intersected porphyry-style copper in its first 621.6-meter deep hole at the Bonaparte project in British Columbia. Pending assays and soil results arrive as copper demand rises from AI and infrastructure needs.

Decade Resources Ltd. (DEC:TSX.V; DEXCF:OTCMKTS) reported that its first deep drill hole at the Bonaparte copper-gold property in British Columbia intersected porphyry-style copper mineralization in the final portion of the 621.6-meter hole.

The result marks the initial test of a buried porphyry model at the Discovery zone and provides early geological confirmation for retail investors watching the junior copper sector.

Key Investor Takeaways

  • The 621.6-meter DDH 1 hole encountered chalcopyrite, occasional molybdenite, and classic porphyry alteration zones at depth.
  • Visual results support a British Columbia Geological Survey interpretation that the gold-bearing veins may represent the upper level of a buried porphyry system.
  • Copper demand is projected to grow sharply through 2040 as AI data centers, defense, and power grids increase metal needs.
  • Assays from the first hole, plus more than 750 soil samples and 30 rock samples, remain pending.
  • Technical analyst Stewart Thomson has issued price targets of CA$0.14 short-term, CA$0.25 medium-term, and CA$0.60 long-term.1
  • Market cap stands near CA$40.59 million with 245.99 million shares outstanding and retail ownership above 84 percent.2

Why Copper Demand Matters Now

Copper prices have responded to policy shifts and structural demand growth. Trump's July 30, 2025, proclamation introduced a 50 percent Section 232 tariff on certain copper products effective August 2025, later expanded in April 2026.

These measures contributed to inventory builds and shifting premiums between U.S. and global markets, stated a March 6 article by Bloomberg News.

At the same time, a Businessworld report noted that strategic sectors including AI infrastructure, defense, and power grids could account for nearly 45 percent of global copper demand by 2040, up from 32 percent in 2024.

Brian Taylor of Recycling Today said the World Bank expects its metals price index to rise 17 percent in 2026.

Company Position and Project Setting

Decade Resources Ltd. focuses on exploration in British Columbia and holds the Bonaparte property, roughly 50 kilometers north of Kamloops. The project sits near established porphyry copper deposits such as Highland Valley and New Afton.

A porphyry copper deposit is a large mineral system where copper and associated metals occur throughout or around an intrusive rock body; these systems are major global sources of the metal. The property's Discovery zone hosts gold-bearing quartz veins, with historical drilling, trenching, and underground workings supporting the interpretation by some geologists that they may represent the upper expression of a deeper porphyry system.

Drill Results and Next Catalysts

The Phase 1 program began with DDH 1, drilled to test a large chargeability anomaly. An IP or chargeability anomaly is a geophysical feature that can indicate subsurface electrical properties often linked to sulfide mineralization. The hole intersected diorite and feldspar porphyry from surface to 252.1 meters, followed by propylitic-altered rocks and overlapping potassic alteration, before entering altered mineralized feldspar porphyry from about 557 meters to the bottom of the hole.

Mineralization remains open at depth. Chalcopyrite is a copper-iron sulfide mineral and one of the primary copper ores; molybdenite is a molybdenum-bearing mineral frequently found in porphyry systems. The company cautioned that visual observations do not yet confirm grades.

In late July, a contract crew completed a soil sampling survey over the southern portion of the IP anomaly, collecting more than 750 soil samples and 30 rock samples. Assay results from drilling and surface sampling remain pending and represent the next clear catalysts for investors.

Perspectives and Valuation Context

1Technical analyst Stewart Thomson issued a Strong Speculative Buy rating with targets of CA$0.14 short-term, CA$0.25 medium-term, and CA$0.60 long-term. He noted rising and more consistent trading volume as a bullish signal.

Bob Moriarty of 321gold.com described the first hole as a 100 percent technical success based on visuals and called the shares absurdly cheap after an initial 65 percent price move.

Common Questions from Investors

Q: What did the first drill hole at Bonaparte intersect?
A: DDH 1 intersected propylitic and potassic alteration before reaching mineralized feldspar porphyry from roughly 557 meters to the bottom of the 621.6-meter hole, with chalcopyrite and occasional molybdenite present.

Q: Do visual results confirm copper grades?
A: No. Visual observations of alteration and sulfide minerals support the porphyry model but cannot establish grades; laboratory assays are required.

Q: What are the nearest catalysts for the stock?
A: Release of drill assays from Phase 1 and results from the 750-plus soil samples plus 30 rock samples collected in July.

Q: Why is copper demand expected to rise?
A: Growing use in AI data centers, defense systems, power grids, and clean-energy infrastructure is projected to lift copper's share of strategic demand to 45 percent by 2040.

The Bonaparte results give Decade Resources an early technical foothold in a region known for large copper deposits. Investors will monitor assay numbers and follow-up drilling to assess the scale of any mineral system. The combination of a supportive copper price environment and pending data releases creates a defined window for further evaluation.
