Morocco Strategic Minerals Corp. (MCC:TSXV; GNSMF:OTCMKTS) reported high-grade copper and silver from three Moroccan projects as it advances drill targets ahead of initial drilling.

Investors interested in early-stage copper exploration are watching the latest sampling results from Morocco Strategic Minerals Corp. (MCC:TSXV; GNSMF:OTCMKTS), a Canadian exploration company advancing projects in Morocco.

Key Takeaways

  • Morocco Strategic Minerals (MCC) reported high-grade copper (Cu) and silver (Ag) results from sampling at its Ouneine, Tanfit, and Ijoukak projects in Morocco.
  • Ouneine underground sampling returned up to 13.18% Cu and 88 g/t Ag over 0.9 meters (m).
  • Ouneine surface sampling identified multiple copper-silver zones, including 1.55% Cu and 199 g/t Ag over 2 meters.
  • Tanfit and Ijoukak returned multiple high-grade copper samples, including values above 20% copper at both projects.
  • MCC is refining priority drill targets across its Western High Atlas District ahead of a planned initial drilling program.

Advancing Drill Targets

On August 20, 2026, Morocco Strategic reported results from systematic underground and surface channel sampling at its Ouneine project, as well as selective sampling at its Tanfit and Ijoukak licenses in Morocco's Western High Atlas district. The company is using the results, along with geological and structural mapping, to determine priority drill targets across the district.

At Ouneine, MCC collected 77 underground channel samples from 15 sections of Gallery A. Eight sections returned more than 1% Cu, with the highest results showing 5.74% Cu and 39 g/t Ag over 2.1 m, including 13.18% Cu and 88 g/t Ag over 0.9 m. Surface channel sampling also identified copper-silver mineralization, with six of 13 channels returning more than 1% Cu, including 1.55% Cu and 199 g/t Ag over 2 m.

At Tanfit, five of six underground grab samples from Gallery 17 returned more than 2% Cu, with results reaching 7.76% Cu and 42 g/t Ag. Historical stockpile samples also returned high copper grades, including up to 23.60% Cu and 40 g/t Ag.

At Ijoukak, 11 of 11 samples from the historical 1670-level workings returned more than 1% Cu, with grades ranging from 1.35% to 27.68% Cu. Samples from the 1700-level workings also returned values of up to 26.43% Cu, while all five historical stockpile samples exceeded 1% Cu.

Pierre-Olivier Goulet, President and CEO of MCC, said: "We are very pleased with the progress being made in defining drill targets across our Western High Atlas district. The systematic channel sampling at Ouneine is providing the grade-and-width information needed to refine our geological model, while the recent results from Tanfit and Ijoukak reinforce the presence of high-grade copper mineralization at several centers across the district."

Copper and Silver Demand Supports Exploration Activity

Demand for copper is expected to rise due to continued use in electronics, especially with the widespread construction of new data centers and defense applications in the U.S. A report from Businessworld claimed that "global copper demand is gradually shifting towards strategic and less price-sensitive sectors such as AI infrastructure, defense, power grids, and clean energy systems. By 2040, these categories are expected to account for nearly 45% of total copper demand, up from 32% in 2024."

Last year, the prospect of President Donald Trump's tariffs helped drive copper prices higher in the U.S. as American buyers stockpiled the metal. This contributed to elevated inventories and a widening premium between U.S. futures and physical copper markets. "Collectively, inventories at the world's main exchanges have risen by more than 500,000 tons since the start of the year," stated a March 6 article by Bloomberg NewsTrump's July 30, 2025, proclamation imposed a 50% Section 232 tariff on the copper input value of semi-finished copper and copper-intensive derivative products, effective August 1, 2025. Effective April 6, 2026, a 50% tariff was applied to the full value of semi-finished copper products, which collapsed the COMEX premium. The 2025 proclamation also called for consideration of a phased universal tariff on refined copper of 15% starting in 2027 and 30% starting in 2028.

Now, according to Trading Economics on August 24, 2026, "Copper futures fell to around US$6.55 per pound on Monday, retreating from recent gains as a sharp build-up in exchange inventories eased concerns over near-term supply tightness." The article continued, stating: "A weaker U.S. dollar helped limit the decline, while investors await the Jackson Hole meeting and the Federal Reserve Chair's speech for clues on interest rates."

Silver was trading at US$68.50 per ounce as of August 24, 2026. Higher demand from electric cars, solar panels, data centers, and more is shoring up silver's future demand. Yahoo Finance quoted experts from both BlackRock and J.P. Morgan as saying, "By the end of 2026, experts predict silver's price will surpass US$80 per ounce, and it could reach US$100 per ounce by 2030."

The metals sector as a whole is also showing signs of improvement. On May 7, 2026, Brian Taylor of Recycling Today  said that the World Bank Group has projected that its metals and minerals price index will rise 17% in 2026.

Expert Points to High-Grade Results and Planned Drilling

On August 20, 2026, Chen Lin of What is Chen Buying? What is Chen Selling? weighed in on the company, writing: "MCC.v announced very high-grade copper/silver results. They are set to start drilling in the coming month and have a high-grade resource out early next year. Because their concessions come with a production license, they are planning to get into production quickly."

MCC Prepares for First-Phase Drilling

According to the release, MCC is integrating results from the three projects with geological mapping, structural interpretation, and three-dimensional data to advance the highest-priority targets toward drilling. Goulet said: "The higher-grade mineralized structures emerging from the current interpretation represent attractive drill targets, and we intend to commence the first phase of drilling as rapidly as practicable, subject to final technical validation, permitting, safe access, and contractor availability."

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is channel sampling in mineral exploration?
A: Channel sampling involves cutting or collecting a continuous sample across a defined section of exposed rock to measure the grade and width of mineralization. Unlike selective grab samples, channel samples can provide a more representative indication of mineralization across a specific interval.

Q: What is a grab sample?
A: A grab sample is a rock sample collected from a specific location that is selected because it appears representative or mineralized. Grab samples can help identify high-grade areas, but generally do not establish the average grade or continuity of a mineralized zone.

Q: What does a copper grade such as 13.18% Cu mean?
A: A copper grade of 13.18% means that approximately 13.18% of the sampled material, by weight, was copper. Reported grades from individual samples can be much higher than the average grade of a larger mineralized deposit and should not be interpreted as representative of an entire project.

Q: What is a drill target in mineral exploration?
A: A drill target is a geological area identified as having characteristics that suggest it may contain mineralization worth testing with drilling. Companies typically use mapping, sampling, geophysical data, and geological interpretation to prioritize targets before drilling.

Q: What is a mineralized zone?
A: A mineralized zone is an area of rock containing elevated concentrations of economically relevant minerals. The presence of mineralization does not by itself establish that a deposit is economically recoverable; additional drilling, testing, and technical studies are generally required.

Q: Why are Ouneine, Tanfit, and Ijoukak important to Morocco Strategic Minerals?
A: The three projects provide multiple areas of copper and silver mineralization for the company to investigate within its Western High Atlas district. MCC is using the sampling and geological data to prioritize areas for its planned initial drilling program.
