Gold Hits Record US$4,525 an Ounce
Junior miners and exploration companies hit the ground running this year after gold rallied to above US$5,500 per ounce in January. Many companies chose to begin exploration or production amid these highs. While prices have since fallen, and even dipped below US$4,000 in June, prices are still up 31% compared to August 2025, and Gold.org wrote that: "[T]he stage is set for a possible breakout. On the upside, clear catalysts — a worsening economy or renewed geopolitical shock, a shift towards lower interest-rate expectations, or a wave of dip buying — could reignite gold's momentum and lift it back towards US$4,500/oz or above." Even stronger is a belief that ". . . due to increased central bank buying and global tensions, JPMorgan predicts that gold will reach US$6,300 per ounce in 2026," according to Yahoo Finance.
On August 20, 2026, gold was trading at US$4,525 per ounce — the highest the precious metal has reached since June — with Trading Economics writing that the rise is partially because ". . . the U.S. Treasury's intervention on bond markets lowered the dollar and reignited the debasement trade. The Treasury Department at least doubled the buyback of notes and bonds in the upcoming financial quarter. It marked another effort by Washington to contain soaring yields in the longer portion of the curve, following Secretary Bessent's call for higher limits on the Federal Reserve's FIMA facility. Lower borrowing costs reduce the opportunity cost for markets to hold precious metals, which carry no coupons. "
The looming expectations that the US government is actively suppressing borrowing costs strengthened calls that precious metals are the ideal protection to downside risks to the dollar's purchasing power."
The metals sector as a whole is only showing signs of improvement. On May 7, 2026, Brian Taylor of Recycling Today said that the World Bank Group has projected that its metals and minerals price index will rise 17% in 2026.
Couloir Capital Raises Target to CA$1.20
Couloir Capital's Ron Wortel weighed in on Dryden on June 5, 2026, assigning a "Buy" rating and upgrading the company's price target to CA$1.20 per share. Wortel called out several highlights investors may want to consider, including the company's exploration success at the Gold Rock system. Drilling intersected 15 mineralized structures across a 600-meter-wide corridor, with follow-up drilling finding ". . . subsequent drilling identified three new high-grade veins, including 32.87 g/t gold over 4.25 meters at Sparrow and 13.08 g/t gold over 3.80 meters at Buccaneer." Wortel also pointed out that maiden drilling at Hyndman intersected gold mineralization in all six holes, and he argued that the company's financial and strategic positioning support its drilling program and future plans.
Drill Campaign Fully Funded
In 2026, Dryden Gold plans to fully define Gold Rock's potential high-grade resources, find and define parallel mineralized structures at Gold Rock, prove the periodicity beginning at the company's Mud Lake Discovery, develop multiple target areas around 20 km strike length at Gold Rock, and strategically focus a fully funded 45,000-meter drill campaign there.
