West Red Lake Gold files NI 43-101 report with updated high-grade Rowan resource and maiden Mount Jamie estimate in Ontario's Red Lake district amid strong gold prices.

Gold prices have remained elevated, trading above US$4,000 per ounce in recent sessions and drawing attention from investors seeking exposure to the sector. West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. (WRLG:TSX.V; WRLGF:OTCQX; UJO:FSE) operates in one of Canada's most prolific gold regions, the Red Lake district of northwestern Ontario.

Why West Red Lake Gold Stands Out in a Strong Gold Market

The company controls two key assets in the same district: the producing Madsen mine and the Rowan project located nearby. On July 22, 2026, the company announced that it has filed on SEDAR+ an independent technical report prepared in accordance with National Instrument 43-101, Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects, covering the updated 2026 mineral resource estimate (MRE) for the Rowan project and the maiden MRE for the nearby Mount Jamie deposit. This filing provides retail investors with standardized, independently verified data on resource size and grade.

Updated High-Grade Resources at Rowan and Mount Jamie

The Rowan deposit now shows indicated resources of 798,989 tonnes at 13.04 grams per tonne gold for 335,058 ounces and inferred resources of 363,602 tonnes at 15.31 g/t gold for 179,029 ounces. The maiden Mount Jamie resource adds indicated material of 110,385 tonnes at 14.02 g/t gold for 49,740 ounces and inferred material of 94,394 tonnes at 12.10 g/t gold for 36,727 ounces. According to the report, these figures reflect minor non-material adjustments from rounding and proportional block reporting. National Instrument 43-101 is Canada's standard requiring qualified persons to prepare technical reports so investors can compare projects on a consistent basis. Indicated resources carry higher geological confidence than inferred resources but still require further work before conversion to reserves.

Key Investor Takeaways

  • Rowan and Mount Jamie together host more than 600,000 ounces of gold at average grades above 13 g/t, among the higher-grade undeveloped resources in the Red Lake camp.
  • Both deposits use conservative gold price assumptions of US$3,200 per ounce and cut-off grades of 2.00 g/t at Rowan and 3.80 g/t at Mount Jamie.
  • No mineral reserves have yet been declared, meaning further engineering studies are required before production decisions.
  • Analysts at Cantor Fitzgerald maintain a Buy rating and CA$2.20 target after reviewing both operations and the new resource numbers.
  • Institutional holders own roughly 30 percent of the shares while insiders and advisors hold about 10 percent, leaving 60 percent with retail investors.1
  • The company is advancing Rowan toward future development studies and a combined Madsen-Rowan pre-feasibility study.

Analyst Perspectives on Operations and Resources

On July 15, Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Matthew O'Keefe reiterated a Buy rating and a CA$2.20 price target following the company's second-quarter operational update. He noted production rising 51 percent quarter-over-quarter to 8,576 ounces and mill throughput climbing toward 1,000 tonnes per day, supporting full-year guidance of 35,000 to 45,000 ounces.

Gold traded at US$4,069.32 per ounce as of 5:46 a.m. EDT on July 24, according to live spot pricing data. The market showed gold up US$12.44, or 0.31%, on the day, with a bid price of US$4,054.82 and an ask price of US$4,069.32. The live pricing data also listed gold at US$130.83 per gram and US$130,831.52 per kilogram.

CNBC reported on July 22 that hedge fund manager John Paulson viewed the current market as "the beginnings or the early stages of a long-term bull market for gold." He said demand for bullion had broadened, led by central banks increasing their reserves alongside growing private-sector interest. Paulson also said, "Gold is becoming the most apt reserve currency in the world, replacing fiat currencies," adding that "the demand from central banks, for instance, has continued to grow, as has the private sector."

According to a July 23 report from Kitco News, the gold market had continued "to base-build at key long-term support levels" after the European Central Bank left interest rates unchanged.

Development Roadmap Across Madsen and Rowan

According to the company's July 2026 corporate presentation, West Red Lake Gold's 2026 activities include continued ramp-up at the Madsen mine, with production guidance of 35,000 to 45,000 ounces for the year, approximately 60% weighted toward the second half of 2026. Planned work during the year includes initiating development at the Fork deposit, accessing the 4447 and 960 complexes, advancing the 13 Level East Drive toward the Derlak complex, and beginning Phase 1 shaft refurbishment. The presentation also states that an updated pre-feasibility study has been proposed to combine the Madsen and Rowan projects, while exploration is planned at the Starratt-Olsen and North Shore targets. The company also outlined additional work expected during 2027, including bringing the 904 Complex and Fork satellite deposit into the production profile, continuing underground development, scaling shaft haulage capacity, advancing the 13 Level East Drive to open additional mining fronts, and continuing resource expansion drilling. For 2029 and beyond, the presentation describes Rowan development and production ramp-up, with a proposed hub-and-spoke strategy incorporating multiple complexes and mines feeding the Madsen mill, alongside continued regional exploration. At Rowan, the presentation states that a recent 6,300-meter drill program targeted veins 001, 004, 006b, and 013. According to the company, the program was designed to support pre-feasibility study, mine design, geotechnical, and metallurgical work for the combined planned pre-feasibility study. The company also stated that near-portal veins 006b and 013 could support additional mine life and earlier production, while the best intercept demonstrated continuity near the current 400-meter depth extent.

Common Questions from Investors

What is the significance of the NI 43-101 technical report? It provides investors with an independent, standardized summary of the mineral resources at Rowan and Mount Jamie using CIM definitions.

How do the new resource grades compare with typical Canadian gold projects? Average grades above 13 g/t are considered high relative to many underground operations that mine material grading 4-8 g/t.

What is the next major catalyst for the company? Completion of an updated pre-feasibility study combining Madsen and Rowan, plus ongoing ramp-up at the Madsen mill toward 1,000 tonnes per day.

Are there mineral reserves yet? No, only mineral resources have been estimated; further engineering work is required to define reserves.

The company's current market cap is approximately CA$300 million with a 52-week range of CA$0.54 to CA$1.49. 1Institutional investors hold about 30 percent of the shares, insiders and advisors another 10 percent, and retail investors the remaining 60 percent. Retail investors should weigh execution risks at the Madsen ramp-up, the time required to advance Rowan through permitting and feasibility, and gold price volatility when considering an investment.
