Decade Resources advances toward a 3,000 m drill program at its Bonaparte copper-gold project in British Columbia after soil sampling highlighted a potential buried porphyry system.

The mobilization of a drill rig by Decade Resources Ltd. (DEC:TSX.V; DEXCF:OTCMKTS) at its Bonaparte copper-gold property has drawn attention from investors focused on copper and gold exploration in British Columbia.

Current Market Opportunity for Copper and Gold

Copper demand is projected to rise steadily through 2040 as data centers, defense systems, power grids, and clean energy infrastructure expand. These sectors are expected to represent nearly 45 percent of global copper use, up from 32 percent in 2024. Gold prices have remained elevated, recently holding above US$4,250 per ounce even after earlier volatility, supported by lower energy costs and shifting interest-rate expectations.

Why Decade Resources Stands Out

Decade Resources Ltd. focuses on mineral exploration in British Columbia, including the Golden Triangle region, and holds several projects at different stages. Its Bonaparte property, located north of Kamloops in the Kamloops Mining Division, covers 4,149.63 hectares across four mineral claims and contains multiple target types that align with current metal demand trends.

Unique Advantages at the Bonaparte Project

The property hosts copper-gold-molybdenum porphyry potential, a bulk-tonnage reduced intrusion-related gold system with historic high-grade gold intercepts, and a high-grade gold-copper low-sulphidation epithermal vein system. Historic bulk samples from the Crow Vein returned 25.4 g/t Au in 1994 and 16.3 g/t Au in 2010. A July sampling program collected more than 750 soil samples and 30 rock samples, identifying copper-gold-bearing hornfels approximately 275 m above a chargeability anomaly.

Key Catalysts and Project Details

Historic induced polarization surveys outlined a large buried porphyry system south of the Discovery zone that expands to roughly 3 km by 2 km at about 275 m depth. A 2013 British Columbia Geological Survey publication noted that the Bonaparte deposit may represent an upper level of a buried porphyry system. The company interprets the fractured hornfels with chalcopyrite and pyrite veinlets as further evidence supporting a buried porphyry copper-gold system, backed by overlapping geophysical, geochemical, and outcrop data.

Phase 1 Drilling Program

Decade plans a 3,000 m Phase 1 program using a drill capable of NQ-sized core to at least 500 m depth. The first hole will test the chargeability anomaly below the Discovery area to assess whether the Discovery-Cooler Creek corridor forms a connected mineralized system. A second hole, 500 m east, will test MMI copper-gold anomalies along with resistivity and chargeability features. Locations for the remaining holes will be refined after the initial results.

Industry Timing and Structural Setting

Bonaparte lies on a structural trend shared with producing mines in the Quesnellia terrane, including comparisons to the Afton deposit. Broader metals markets show improving fundamentals, with the World Bank forecasting a 17 percent rise in global metals prices for 2026, marking the first overall increase since 2022.

Common Questions from Investors

Q: What is a porphyry copper-gold deposit?
A: A porphyry deposit is a large, low-grade mineral system containing copper, gold, molybdenum, and other metals distributed throughout a broad rock body, often supporting long-life mining operations.

Q: What is a chargeability anomaly?
A: A chargeability anomaly is a geophysical feature from induced polarization surveys that can indicate rocks with sulphide minerals often linked to copper and gold deposits, helping prioritize drill targets.

Q: Why is copper demand expected to grow?
A: Copper demand is rising because the metal is essential for electricity transmission, electric vehicles, renewable energy, data centers, and grid infrastructure, with forecasts showing continued long-term increases.

Q: How do geologists identify drilling targets?
A: Geologists combine geological mapping, soil and rock sampling, geophysical surveys, and geochemical data; overlapping positive indicators from multiple datasets help prioritize areas for drilling.

Retail investors should review the latest technical reports and consider the inherent risks of early-stage exploration when evaluating Decade Resources.
