Lake Victoria Gold Ltd. (LVG:TSX.V; LVGLF:OTCQB; E1K:FSE) announced that its wholly owned Tanzanian subsidiary, Tembo Gold (T) Limited, would commence the Phase 3 land valuation and compensation program at the fully permitted Imwelo Gold Project in Chato District, Geita Region, on August 1, 2026.
Phase 3 covered approximately 73 acres within Imwelo A Hamlet and was intended to provide additional land for accommodation camps, workshop facilities, and related mine infrastructure. The company said the additional land would support the project's workforce, maintenance activities, and day-to-day site operations as it prepared Imwelo for construction and future mining operations.
Approximately 60 Project Affected Persons were expected to participate in the valuation and compensation process. The program had been approved by the Office of the District Executive Director and the District Commissioner of Chato District Council and would involve representatives from Chato District Council, the District Commissioner's Office, Imwelo Village, Buselesele Ward, and other relevant government authorities.
Qualified government valuers at the district and regional levels would conduct the valuation process in accordance with applicable Tanzanian land and valuation legislation. Community sensitization meetings would be used to explain the process, rights, and obligations to affected persons, with valuation results disclosed to each affected person before compensation was completed.
Phase 3 followed two previously completed land programs. Phase 1 covered 268 acres in 2019, while Phase 2 covered 185 acres in 2023. Completion of Phase 3 would bring the combined area covered by the three programs to approximately 526 acres.
In a company news release, Lake Victoria Gold said it was "continuing to methodically address the practical requirements for construction and project execution" by advancing the land program alongside its engineering, procurement, and site-development activities.
The company also said it was "committed to conducting the valuation and compensation program transparently, fairly and in accordance with Tanzanian law, in close collaboration with government authorities, local leadership and the affected community."
Analysts Saw Imwelo Entering Construction as a Significant Project Inflection Point
According to a July 31 report from Atrium Research, analysts Ben Pirie and Nicholas Cortellucci, CFA, reiterated a "BUY" rating on Lake Victoria Gold Ltd. and maintained a CA$0.50 price target. The analysts said the target implied an 82% return from the company's July 31 closing price of CA$0.28.
Pirie and Cortellucci described Lake Victoria Gold as "one of the few junior mining companies globally... transitioning from development to construction," which they called a significant inflection point in the project's evolution. They viewed the recent site-readiness milestones as evidence of steady and disciplined progress into the mine construction phase.
Atrium modeled no gold production in 2025A or 2026E, followed by 8,700 ounces in 2027E. For 2027E, the analysts forecast net revenue of CA$38.7 million, cash flow of CA$8.9 million, and cash flow per share of CA$0.04. They estimated 2027E cash costs at US$1,393 per ounce and all-in sustaining costs at US$2,016 per ounce.
The analysts carried a NAV of US$157.0 million, implying a P/NAV multiple of 0.29x and a 2027E P/CF multiple of 7.2x. Atrium reported a market capitalization of CA$63.8 million based on 232.1 million fully diluted in-the-money shares, pro forma cash of CA$4.5 million, and debt of CA$1.4 million, resulting in an enterprise value of CA$60.7 million.
Atrium identified ongoing progress and drilling results at the Tembo Project and the commencement of Imwelo construction in Q3 2026 as near-term catalysts, with first gold targeted in 2027. The analysts also noted that construction was "one of the strongest periods of value creation along the Lassonde Curve," as development risk declined and the market began considering future production and cash flow generation.
In a March 19 report, Red Cloud Securities mining analyst Alina Islam reviewed metallurgical test results from the Imwelo Gold Project and stated that the company did not carry a formal rating or target price from the firm. Islam described the results as "a positive de-risking milestone for the project."
The analyst highlighted that testing confirmed mineralization was "largely amenable to free milling," with gold recoveries reaching up to 97% through conventional gravity concentration and cyanide leaching. Islam also noted that gravity testing identified "a strong gravity-recoverable component of approximately 42-47%," while diagnostic leaching showed that "up to 84% of gold is directly cyanide-leachable," confirming the deposit's non-refractory character.
Islam wrote that the metallurgical program was significant because it included transitional and fresh sulphide rock from deeper portions of the planned pit for the first time. Previous metallurgical programs had focused exclusively on oxide material, and the analyst said the results from the deeper material closely matched historical findings, which "builds confidence that recoveries will hold across the full mining sequence and strengthens the foundation for final plant design."
According to the report, the confirmed gravity plus carbon-in-leach (CIL) flowsheet was "well understood and widely deployed across the Lake Victoria Goldfield." Islam added that the metallurgical profile "aligns with other producing operations in the district, where gravity plus CIL circuits are the standard processing method."
The report also stated that the company was integrating the metallurgical results into final mine planning, process plant optimization and engineering studies for a pre-feasibility study expected around 2027 while advancing a funding strategy for the estimated US$15 million capital cost.
Remaining Milestones at Imwelo and Tembo
Lake Victoria Gold's Q1 2026 corporate presentation identified several remaining work streams at the Imwelo Gold Project. These included updating the resource model, completing the remaining engineering work and issuing IFC drawings, updating capital and operating cost estimates using current quoted pricing, and completing the project execution and construction plan, budget and schedule.
The presentation also stated that the project financing process was underway, with the capital structure being finalized to fund initial construction and pre-production activities.
Management was targeting a formal construction decision in Q3 2026 following completion of funding and final engineering.
Beyond Imwelo, the company's presentation stated that a maiden resource remained underway on three primary targets at the Tembo Gold Project. It also outlined an LOI with Nyati Resources to evaluate a near-term production opportunity using Nyati's processing infrastructure. Under the proposed arrangement, Nyati would contribute processing facilities, supporting infrastructure, a processing licence and development capital, while Lake Victoria Gold would contribute ore supply, operational management and technical oversight. The parties had not yet announced a binding agreement.
The presentation also referenced an approximately US$8 million exploration budget over the next 2.5 years on the Bulyanhulu-area licences. No 2026 exploration update had been announced in the materials provided.
