Decade Resources Ltd. (DEC:TSX.V; DEXCF:OTCMKTS) received a drill permit for its Bonaparte copper-gold property near Kamloops, B.C., with a 3,000-meter program targeting a buried porphyry system.

Precious metals investors are eyeing Decade Resources Ltd. (DEC:TSX.V; DEXCF:OTCMKTS) after a new drill permit announcement.

Key Takeaways

  • Decade Resources Ltd. received a drill permit for the Bonaparte copper-gold property, located about 50km north of Kamloops, B.C., within the Kamloops Mining Division.
  • The property covers four mineral tenures totaling 4,149.63 hectares and hosts porphyry, bulk-tonnage RIRGS, and high-grade epithermal vein targets.
  • The company plans a minimum of 3,000m (meters) of drilling across 5-6 holes of 500m or more, targeting a buried porphyry system indicated by IP chargeability and resistivity anomalies beginning around 300m depth.
  • Over the past two weeks, a contract crew completed a soil sampling survey over the south part of the indicated IP anomaly, collecting more than 750 soil samples and 30 rock samples, which have been sent to MSA Laboratories in Langley, B.C.

Drill Permit Clears Path to Test Buried Porphyry Target

On July 28, 2026, Decade Resources announced that it had received a drill permit for the Bonaparte property, located approximately 50km north of Kamloops, B.C. Drilling is expected to begin once drill pads are established and local forest fire conditions allow for mechanized work.

Ed Kruchowski, President of Decade, said in the release: "At the end of June 2026, Knúcwmens le Sxwixwéytemc Archaeology Services Ltd. (KSAS) on behalf of Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) carried out a preliminary field reconnaissance (PFR) on a select portion of the property, in the Bonaparte Plateau area. The PFR resulted in the identification of one small area of archaeological potential (AOP). No further archaeological work is required for the remainder of the assessed lands, provided the development footprint is not expanded to include areas not assessed during this study."

Kruchowski continued: "The company notes that the (AOP) is outside our drill area and proposed drill holes. This report has been forwarded to the Department of Mines, which now completes the permitting process. The company is currently in discussion with contractors to have fire suppression equipment on site as well as locating and building pads. The drill is expected to arrive within the next 10 days. The primary objective of the drill program is to test the evidence for a buried porphyry copper-gold system as indicated by geophysical data (chargeability high and resistivity high), geochemical data, MMI (Mobile Metal Ions) copper-gold anomalies, as well as soil anomalies and outcrop exposures with copper-gold values in the Discovery Area. Drilling will also test the Discovery Area-Cooler Creek corridor to see if it represents a connected mineralized system with the large IP anomaly or if it is an isolated anomaly."

Bonaparte has had two bulk samples completed historically. A 1994 surface-trenching program pulled a 3,700-tonne bulk sample from the Nutcracker, Owl, Grey Jay, and Crow vein systems at an average grade of 25.4 g/t Au (gold), yielding 3,160 ounces of gold. In 2010, a smaller 364-ton sample from the Crow vein assayed 16.3 g/t Au, yielding roughly 162 troy ounces. The previous operator's 10,000-tonne testing, covering both mineralization and wall rock across a 20m-wide zone, implies a grade of about 9.86 g/t over the wider zone. Further data from south of the Discovery Zone suggests a larger zone with a width of roughly 3km by 2km around 275m depth, which then narrows again toward 500m depth.

That interpretation lines up with published work from the British Columbia Geological Survey, whose geologists concluded that ". . . We speculate that the Bonaparte deposit represents an upper level of a buried porphyry system."

Decade characterizes Bonaparte's location as a further point in its favor, sitting within a structural trend of producing mines and deposits in the Quesnellia terrane and sharing structural, stratigraphic, and plutonic characteristics with the Afton deposit.

A Canadian company, Decade Resources Ltd., is dedicated to exploring mineralization in the 'Golden Triangle' area of British Columbia and owns multiple projects in various stages of development.

Gold Rises as Tensions Ease

Junior miners and exploration companies hit the ground running this year after gold rallied at a high of US$5,500 per ounce in January. Many companies chose to begin exploration or production amid these highs. While prices have since fallen, and even dipped below US$4,000 in June, rates are still up 24% compared to July 2025, and Gold.org wrote that: "[T]he stage is set for a possible breakout. On the upside, clear catalysts — a worsening economy or renewed geopolitical shock, a shift towards lower interest-rate expectations, or a wave of dip buying — could reignite gold's momentum and lift it back towards US$4,500/oz or above."

Gold prices have risen slightly on July 27, 2026, after tension between the U.S. and Iran cooled over the weekend. According to Trading Economics, "Gold rose 1% toward US$4,100 an ounce on Monday as easing tensions between the US and Iran sent oil prices sharply lower, easing inflation concerns and reducing fears that the Federal Reserve may need to tighten monetary policy more aggressively ahead of its meeting later this week."

In April, S&P Global wrote, "Gold is expected to remain volatile but structurally supported, with central bank demand and geopolitical risk helping to establish a price floor above recent correction lows."

Despite the volatility of gold, the precious metals sector as a whole is only showing signs of improvement. On May 7, 2026, Brian Taylor of Recycling Today said that the World Bank Group has predicted that overall global metals prices will rise by 17% in 2026, which would mark the first overall market increase since 2022.

Thomson Issues "Strong Speculative Buy"

1On April 24, 2026, technical analyst Stewart Thomson gave Decade a "Strong Speculative Buy" rating. Thomson's short-term price target is CA$0.14, his medium-term target is CA$0.25, and his long-term target is CA$0.60.

Thomson wrote, "Trading volume has increased since the summer of 2025 . . . A pullback to the trendline has occurred, marking a potential entry point for speculators. Volume is more consistent than in the past, also a bullish sign."

Del Norte Sampling Begins in August

According to the company website, Decade plans to begin surface work at Del Norte to further sample the low-sulphidation mineralization that assayed over 30 g/t of gold in quartz breccias in mid-August 2026.

The company also plans to sample any new zones revealed by snow melt and will map and sample the Eagles Nest, LG/Argo, and K-Zone structures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a porphyry copper-gold deposit?

A: A porphyry deposit is a large, low-grade mineral system that can contain copper, gold, and other metals spread throughout a large volume of rock. Although the grade is often lower than in narrow high-grade veins, porphyry deposits can support long-life mines because of their size.

Q: What does a drill permit allow a mining company to do?

A: A drill permit is government approval that allows a company to begin exploration drilling under specific environmental and operational conditions. Receiving a permit is an important milestone because it allows a company to move from planning into field exploration.

Q: What are IP chargeability and resistivity anomalies?

A: Induced Polarization (IP) is a geophysical survey that measures how rocks respond to electrical currents. Areas with unusually high chargeability or resistivity can indicate the presence of sulphide minerals commonly associated with copper and gold deposits, making them attractive drill targets.

Q: What is a soil sampling program?

A: A soil sampling program collects and analyzes soil across a property to detect trace amounts of metals. These geochemical anomalies can help geologists identify areas where mineral deposits may be buried beneath the surface and guide future drilling.

Q: What is a bulk sample in mining?

A: A bulk sample is a larger quantity of rock removed from a deposit to better evaluate its grade and processing characteristics. Unlike individual drill samples, bulk samples can provide a more realistic indication of how a deposit might perform during mining.
