Goldstorm Metals Corp. (GSTM:TSXV; GSTMF:OTCMKTS; B2U:FSE) has launched a 3,000-meter Phase 1 drill program at its Crown project in B.C.'s Golden Triangle.

Goldstorm Metals Corp. (GSTM:TSXV; GSTMF:OTCMKTS; B2U:FSE) commenced a drill program at its Crown project, located to the south of Newmont Corp.'s (NEM:NYSE; NGT:TSX; NEM:ASX) Brucejack mine and Seabridge Gold Inc.'s (SEA:TSX; SA:NYSE.MKT)KSM property, in an area that hosts over 80 million ounces of gold and over 20 billion pounds of copper.

Key Takeaways

  • Goldstorm Metals began drilling at its 100%-owned Crown copper-gold-silver property in British Columbia's Golden Triangle.
  • Phase 1 totals roughly 3,000 meters, starting with three holes testing the Copernicus copper-gold trend, which sits atop a 1.2-kilometer IP chargeability anomaly.
  • At least two holes will target the newly discovered Delta West zone, where a 2025 grab sample returned over 39 g/t gold.
  • Holes will reach depths up to 800 meters to test the Copernicus and Orion Spine targets, and results will help design the planned 6,000-meter Phase 2 program.
  • New WorldView-3 satellite imagery supports a "thrust fault model", suggesting mineral systems from nearby Treaty Creek and KSM may extend onto Crown.

Significant Drill Results out of the Golden Triangle

On July 15, 2026, Goldstorm announced the commencement of a diamond drill program at its 100%-owned Crown copper-gold-silver project within the Golden Triangle of British Columbia, Canada. Phase 1 of the program is anticipated to cover approximately 3,000 meters of diamond drilling and will begin with three holes, with the focus on testing the Copernicus copper-gold geochemical trend. The trend overlies a 1.2-kilometer-long stretch of induced polarization (IP) chargeability anomaly. Further testing will also focus on the recently discovered Delta West gold-mineralized zone, with the company planning at least two drill holes to target shear hosted gold and silver mineralization. Goldstorm currently intends to proceed with a Phase 2, 6,000-meter drill program.

Ken Konkin, PGeo, President, and CEO, said in the release: "We are excited to commence the company's first-ever drill program at the Crown project. The initial phase will consist of three HQ- and NQ2-size drill holes targeting the Copernicus and Orion Spine porphyry targets. These holes will be drilled to depths of up to 800 meters to test the extent of the large IP chargeability anomalies. The widely spaced drill holes have been strategically designed to efficiently evaluate the strongest surface mineralization and coincident geophysical targets. In addition to the Orion Spine target, we plan to drill the Delta West zone, located approximately 10 kilometers directly south of the Valley of the Kings gold deposit at the Brucejack mine. Delta West was discovered by our reconnaissance team during the 2025 field season. A grab sample from a shear-hosted quartz vein containing fine-grained pyrite returned greater than 39 g/t gold and follow-up prospecting identified numerous subparallel mineralized structures across a 500-meter by 800-meter gossanous area, with multiple samples returning significant gold values."

Goldstorm has also announced that it will expand the Delta West discovery through continued prospecting, geological mapping, and sampling programs. Next, the company will conduct prospecting, mapping, and sampling programs across the Electrum, Fairweather, and Delta claims — known as the EFD trend.

While discussing plans, Konkin continued, "The drill holes planned for this program have been designed to test priority targets generated through the integration of IP chargeability data, enhanced geophysical imaging and detailed geological interpretations completed by our field crews. To further refine our geological model and drill targeting, our technical team also incorporated high-resolution WorldView-3 multispectral imagery acquired at the end of the 2025 field season. These images highlight alteration patterns and iron oxidation associated with various styles of mineralization and their related alteration mineral assemblages. Our comprehensive reinterpretation of the geophysical and geological data sets also provides additional support for the 'thrust fault model', which suggests that the thrust-associated mineral systems found at the Treaty Creek and KSM deposits may extend southward onto the Crown property."

Gold and Copper Steady Despite War Tension

Junior miners and exploration companies hit the ground running this year after gold rallied at a high of US$5,500 per ounce in January. Many companies chose to begin exploration or production amid these highs. While prices have since fallen, and even dipped below US$4,000 in June, rates are still up 24% compared to July 2025, and Gold.org wrote that: "[T]he stage is set for a possible breakout. On the upside, clear catalysts — a worsening economy or renewed geopolitical shock, a shift towards lower interest-rate expectations, or a wave of dip buying — could reignite gold’s momentum and lift it back towards US$4,500/oz or above."

Despite a slight rise in gold prices at the end of last week due to positive U.S. home sale data, rates have dipped again due to the ongoing U.S.-Iran War. Inflationary fears were reignited after Brent crude oil prices rose again after a several-week ceasefire between the two countries lost its stability. According to a July 13, 2026, report by Kitco Newswire, "The Strait of Hormuz situation is best characterized as open transit under active military contest, not a stable shipping environment and not a fully verified closure." At the time of writing, Kitco listed gold prices down to US$4,011.70 per ounce.

In April, S&P Global wrote, "Gold is expected to remain volatile but structurally supported, with central bank demand and geopolitical risk helping to establish a price floor above recent correction lows."

Despite the volatility of gold, the sector as a whole is only showing signs of improvement. On May 7, 2026, Brian Taylor of Recycling Today said that the World Bank Group has predicted that overall global metals prices will rise by 17% in 2026, which would mark the first overall market increase since 2022.

Demand for copper is expected to rise due to continued use in electronics, especially with the widespread construction of new data centers and defense needs America is experiencing. A report from Businessworld claimed that, "global copper demand is gradually shifting towards strategic and less price-sensitive sectors such as AI infrastructure, defense, power grids, and clean energy systems. By 2040, these categories are expected to account for nearly 45% of total copper demand, up from 32% in 2024."

Copper has experienced some volatility this year. While a bull market for traders, physical products are trending toward a bear market due to potential tariffs. Last year, the looming potential of President Donald Trump's tariffs surged copper prices in the U.S. as American investors stockpiled the metal.

This hype created an overstocking of copper, widening the gap between futures and physical worth. "Collectively, inventories at the world's main exchanges have risen by more than 500,000 tons since the start of the year," stated a March 6 article by Bloomberg News. The imagined certainty of inaccessible copper due to tariffs evaporated, however, when premiums for U.S. copper futures disappeared, and the tariffs did not materialize. Trump may choose to impose tariffs next year, but analysts and investors are skeptical since his administration chose to forego them in January 2026.

Experts Call Goldstorm "On Probation", Looking Forward to Results

On July 16, 2026, Jeff Clark and Daniel Flynn of The Paydirt Prospector weighed in on Goldstorm's news release, writing: "Crown’s certainly in the right neighborhood. It sits south of Newmont’s Brucejack mine and Seabridge Gold’s KSM project, in a region hosting more than 80 million ounces of gold and 20 billion pounds of copper. Now it’s time to find out whether Crown can live up to its neighborhood."

Regarding the stock, the pair wrote: "Goldstorm remains on probation. Drilling has started, which is exactly what we wanted to see. But starting a program and making a discovery are two very different things. We’ll wait for the assays before deciding whether Crown has put the story back on track. After all, successful drilling could produce a significant rerating from its current market cap of around CA$18M."

Results to Guide Phase 2 Drill Program

Goldstorm's investor presentation claims that the company has "The right geology, the right district, and the right team." Currently, the company plans to execute the drill campaigns discussed in this article and will release results as they become available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the Golden Triangle in British Columbia?

A: The Golden Triangle is one of Canada's most prolific mining regions, located in northwestern British Columbia. It is home to several world-class gold, silver, and copper deposits, including Brucejack, KSM, Eskay Creek, and Red Chris, making it one of the world's most active mineral exploration districts.

Q: What is an induced polarization (IP) survey in mining?

A: An induced polarization (IP) survey is a geophysical exploration method that measures how rocks respond to an electrical current. High IP chargeability can indicate the presence of sulfide minerals, which are commonly associated with copper, gold, and silver deposits, helping geologists identify potential drill targets.

Q: What is a grab sample in mining?

A: A grab sample is a single rock sample collected from the surface to determine whether valuable minerals are present. Because it represents only one location, a grab sample is not necessarily representative of the overall deposit, but it can help identify areas that warrant further exploration.

Q: What is a porphyry copper-gold deposit?

A: A porphyry copper-gold deposit is a large mineral system that contains copper, gold, and other metals distributed throughout a broad volume of rock. While the grades are often moderate, porphyry deposits can become some of the world's largest and longest-producing mines because of their size.

Q: What is a shear-hosted gold deposit?

A: A shear-hosted gold deposit forms when gold-bearing fluids move through fractures created by tectonic forces deep within the Earth's crust. These deposits often occur along major fault zones and can host high-grade gold mineralization.
