Zodiac Gold Inc. (ZAU:TSX.V; ZAU:XFRA; ZAUIF:OTCQB) has launched a 3,000-meter diamond drilling program at its Arthington discovery in Liberia, with plans to expand up to 5,000 meters.

In this bullish market, gold investors are watching Zodiac Gold Inc. (ZAU:TSX.V; ZAU:XFRA; ZAUIF:OTCQB) after the company announced the commencement of a new diamond drilling program at its Arthington discovery, part of the Todi gold project in Liberia. On July 14, 2026, Zodiac explained the strategy behind its district-scale 2026 exploration plan along the highly-prospective Monterra trend.

Key Objectives

According to the press release, key objectives of the campaign will include:

  • Completion of a minimum of 3,000 meters of drilling, with scope to expand to as much as 5,000 meters depending on assay results and the continuity of mineralization encountered.
  • Exploration will be completed using a diamond drill rig, potentially adding a second rig in Q4 2026 to accelerate drilling and turnaround of results.
  • Drilling at Arthington will run concurrently with the company's ongoing exploration activities at the Ben Ben to Youth Camp targets located along strike to the southeast.
  • Drilling is intended to demonstrate the broader scale potential of the Arthington discovery and, combined with the ongoing exploration at the Ben Ben and Youth Camp targets, confirm and discover the district-scale opportunity across the Monterra Trend.

This program is designed to aggressively expand known mineralization both along strike and at depth, sharpen geological confidence through materially increased drill density, and, drive the company toward a planned Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE).

"We are extremely excited to commence this next phase of drilling at our flagship Arthington discovery," said David Kol, President & CEO of Zodiac Gold"Following three highly successful drilling campaigns totaling more than 6,800 meters and an exceptional mineralization hit rate, we believe Arthington is evolving into a significant gold system with substantial growth potential. This 3,000-meter program is designed to materially expand the known mineralized footprint along strike and at depth while increasing drill density in support of our planned mineral resource estimate, and we are prepared to increase the program to as much as 5,000 meters should results continue to warrant it."

Kol continued, saying: "Importantly, we believe this new drill campaign has the potential to significantly increase our resource base and further demonstrate the district-scale nature of the Monterra Trend. With more than 16 kilometers of highly prospective strike length and multiple mineralized targets already identified, we are only beginning to unlock the value of the Monterra Trend. As we continue to advance Arthington and simultaneously explore the Ben Ben to Youth Camp corridor, as well as our ongoing regional exploration programs, we believe Zodiac is positioning itself to define a substantial gold district capable of supporting long-term growth and creating significant value for our shareholders."

To date, exploration at the Arthington discovery has returned significant intersections of Au (gold), including:

  • 18.00 meters at 4.67 g/t Au (including 1.00 meter at 55.90 g/t Au).
  • 9.65 meters at 7.50 g/t Au (including 3.00 meters at 20.36 g/t Au).
  • 6.00 meters at 10.60 g/t Au (including 3.00 meters at 20.45 g/t Au).
  • 25.90 meters at 2.10 g/t Au (including 9.14 meters at 4.20 g/t Au).

Notably, a single drill hole to the near west of the modeled mineralization zones returned 1.05 meters at 8.98 g/t Au and 7 meters at 0.33 g/t Au. Sampling of 13 trenches to the west of the Arthington discovery returned grades up to 32.8 g/t AU, and channel sampling in an artisanal pit 340 meters west of that discovery returned results of 17 meters at 0.7 g/t Au, including 4 meters at 1.99 g/t Au and 1.00 meter at 1.47 g/t Au.

Zodiac Gold Inc. is a West-African gold exploration company focused on the Todi Gold Project in Liberia. The company asserts that Liberia is a politically stable, mining-friendly country with an expedited permitting process and strong political and social support for exploration companies.

Exploration Companies Are Expanding Among Higher Gold Market

In an exclusive conversation with Streetwise Reports, management of Zodiac remarked on the importance of location in the company's success strategy. They said: "West Africa hosts over 450 Moz (million ounce) of discovered gold across 70+ deposits over 1 Moz, making it the largest Paleoproterozoic gold-producing region in the world. Liberia is one of the least explored regions within this prolific belt, with strong potential for discovery of +1 Moz deposits. The country is politically stable with a mining-friendly code, 25% corporate tax, 3% royalty, and 100% repatriation of profits. Gold prices at record highs provide a strong macro tailwind for exploration-stage companies advancing district-scale discoveries."

Junior miners and exploration companies hit the ground running this year after gold rallied at a high of US$5,500 per ounce in January. Many companies, like Zodiac, chose to begin exploration or production amid these highs. While prices have since fallen, and even dipped below US$4,000 in June, rates are still up 24% compared to July 2025, and Gold.org wrote that: "[T]he stage is set for a possible breakout. On the upside, clear catalysts – a worsening economy or renewed geopolitical shock, a shift towards lower interest-rate expectations, or a wave of dip buying — could reignite gold’s momentum and lift it back towards US$4,500/oz or above."

Despite a slight rise in gold prices at the end of last week due to positive U.S. home sale data, rates have dipped again due to the ongoing U.S.-Iran War. Inflationary fears were reignited after Brent crude oil prices rose again after a several-week ceasefire between the two countries lost its stability. According to a July 13, 2026, report by Kitco Newswire, "The Strait of Hormuz situation is best characterized as open transit under active military contest, not a stable shipping environment and not a fully verified closure." As of the time of writing on July 14, 2026, gold prices were testing resistance at US$4,089.10 per ounce.

In April, S&P Global wrote, "Gold is expected to remain volatile but structurally supported, with central bank demand and geopolitical risk helping to establish a price floor above recent correction lows."

Despite the volatility of gold, the sector as a whole is only showing signs of improvement. On May 7, 2026, Brian Taylor of Recycling Today said that the World Bank Group has predicted that overall global metals prices will rise by 17% in 2026, which would mark the first overall market increase since 2022.

Analyst Gives 'Speculative Buy' Rating, Calls Early Results 'Significant'

1On May 20, 2026, technical analyst Stewart Thomson gave Zodiac a "Speculative Buy" rating, with a short-term price target of CA$0.45, a medium-term price target of CA$0.75, and a long-term technical price target of CA$1.00.

Thomson noted that ". . . early results appear to highlight significant potential for the project."

What Comes Next in Zodiac's 2026 Exploration Strategy?

The company's 2026 exploration strategy includes 3,600m of trenching and 14,000m of diamond drilling, which is being completed on the 16km Monterra Trend from the Arthington discovery to Youth Camp. In addition, a drone-based magnetic and LiDAR survey is underway to further refine drill targeting and support a planned MRE.

In H2 2026, the company will also follow up on the current soil geochemical program (10,500 samples) in its Bomi South and Bong West licenses, with potential for mapping, trenching, and drilling as warranted.

Another important factor is considering who has invested in the Zodiac, as ownership structure often belies confidence in future performance. Strong insider ownership of 30% aligns management with shareholders, and the company board includes prominent mining fund manager Larry Lepard and veteran geologists.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is diamond drilling?

A: Diamond drilling is a method used in mineral exploration to collect cylindrical rock samples, called drill core, from underground. Geologists study these samples to identify mineralization, estimate the size of a deposit, and better understand the area's geology.

Q: What is a Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE)?

A: A Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) is a scientific estimate of the amount, grade, and distribution of a mineral deposit based on exploration data such as drilling and sampling. It helps companies evaluate the potential size and economic significance of a project.

Q: What does "along strike and at depth" mean in mining exploration?

A: Along strike refers to exploring the extension of a mineralized zone horizontally in the direction it naturally continues. At depth means drilling deeper below the surface to determine whether the mineralization continues underground.

Q: What does gold grade (g/t Au) mean?

A: Gold grade, measured in grams per tonne (g/t Au), indicates how much gold is contained in one metric tonne of rock. For example, a grade of 4.67 g/t Au means the rock contains an average of 4.67 grams of gold per tonne. Higher grades generally indicate more gold is present in the sampled rock.
