West Point Gold Corp. (WPG:TSXV; WPGCF:OTCQX; LRA0:FSE) provided an update on its 2026 drill program at the Tyro Zone of its Gold Chain project in Arizona on June 23, 2026. Results from hole GC26-148 returned significant mineralization, and the step-out core hole extended the NE Tyro Zone's assets to more than 250 meters below surface.
Highlights of the results include:
- Hole GC26-148 returned 66.2m of 6.57 g/t Au (gold) from 219.0 to 285.2m (meters), including 20.7m at 18.25 g/t Au, contained in a broad stockwork vein and breccia complex.
- Hole GC26-148 is amongst the broadest (true width) and highest-grade intercepts drilled at NE Tyro.
- This hole has successfully extended previously known mineralization beyond 250m from surface, where the zone remains open to depth. There are 7 additional holes with assays pending at this depth (below 250m) at NE Tyro.
- As a result of GC26-148, it is anticipated that the high-grade NE Tyro zone is likely to be open at depth following the MRE.
In the release, Derek Macpherson, president and CEO of West Point, said: "This drill hole indicates that the high grades at NE Tyro continue to depth and this zone will remain open following the upcoming maiden resource. There are assays pending from additional holes at this depth from both NE Tyro and the Tyro Main Zone. This result, coupled with those that are pending, suggests that deeper drilling at Tyro will resume with the funded Fall 2026 to Spring 2027 drill program."
The zone remains open at depth and along strike. Results reported herein comprise 318.8m of the recently completed 21,079m drill program.

Gold Prices Plunge After Dollar Value Rises
Gold surged to a record high earlier in the year, hitting a high of over US$5,000 per ounce in January. Since then, gold rates have been slowly lowering, but many expect the rally to resume once international conflict cools down. In April, S&P Global wrote, "Gold is expected to remain volatile but structurally supported, with central bank demand and geopolitical risk helping to establish a price floor above recent correction lows."
On June 24, 2026, that meteoric rise crashed below US$4,000 per ounce, down 3.19% from the previous day to US$3,978.80 per ounce. Some experts are blaming a rise in the value of the U.S. dollar after inflation rose, with the dollar pressing a 52-week high near 101.71.
Despite the volatility of gold, the sector as a whole is only showing signs of improvement. On May 7, 2026, Brian Taylor of Recycling Today said that the World Bank Group has predicted that overall global metals prices will rise by 17% in 2026, which would mark the first overall market increase since 2022.
Experts Blown Away by "Home Run" from Company
On June 23, 2026, Chen Lin of What is Chen Buying? What is Chen Selling? spoke about West Point, saying: "Today, WPG.v hit it out of the park, with 66 meters of 6.57 g/ton gold! I hope for a strong response from the market."
On the same day, Bob Moriarty of 321gold.com said: "West Point Gold just released a giant 435 gram/meter hole assaying 66.2 meters of 6.57 g/ gold. That's a big home run for the company."

Carlisle Kane at Equedia Investment Research published a letter on West Point's news on June 23. "Those internal grades are roughly 35 times the average grade of an open-pit gold mine in the southwestern United States," they said. "A wide, predictable, high-grade shoot that plunges down, in a system that is filled with gold again and again . . . showing every textbook signal that the gold-forming engine is still sitting below where they've drilled so far."
After expressing a strong belief that the company's stock would spike in the near future, Equedia said: "The rocks themselves are pointing down and saying, 'Keep going.' That's Mother Nature telling you there's more — even after West Point Gold's maiden resource comes out."
21 Drill Holes Still to Report
West Point cites the ongoing drill program at Gold Chain as a catalyst for upcoming investment, with results from 21 holes — representing 6,550m — still pending and will be incorporated into the company's upcoming Maiden Resource Estimate (MRE) later in 2026. Development of its Jefferson Canyon partnership with Kinross is also underway.
The project is awaiting permit approval, and the company hopes to implement a 5,000-meter drill program at the Baxter Spring site. Its Tip Top site is also being prepped for drilling.
