Sun Peak Metals launches 2500-meter diamond drilling at its Halahila gold-copper VMS project in Saudi Arabia, following strong Safra results, as gold prices hold near key levels and the company builds a district-scale portfolio in the Arabian Nubian Shield.

Sun Peak Metals Corp. (PEAK:TSX.V; SUNPF:OTCQB) is moving forward with a new phase of exploration that positions the company to benefit from Saudi Arabia's expanding mining sector and sustained interest in precious metals among retail investors.

Global demand for gold remains resilient even as prices face short-term pressure from higher Treasury yields and a stronger U.S. dollar. This environment creates a timely backdrop for companies actively drilling high-potential targets in supportive jurisdictions.

Why Sun Peak Stands Out in a Competitive Landscape

Sun Peak Metals has established itself as the first foreign junior explorer to secure 100 percent ownership of exploration licenses in Saudi Arabia. This milestone reflects the company's ability to navigate the Kingdom's regulatory framework and capitalize on a government-backed push to diversify the economy through mining development.

The company's wholly owned portfolio sits within the Precambrian Arabian Nubian Shield, a geologic belt known for hosting volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits rich in copper and gold. Sun Peak's strategy focuses on systematically advancing multiple projects from early-stage mapping to drilling, a sequence that retail investors can track through regular updates.

Halahila Project Emerges as Priority Target

The current drilling program at the Halahila Gold-Copper VMS Project marks the company's second drill campaign in Saudi Arabia this year. Approximately 2,500 meters of diamond drilling will initially test the Halahila Main zone, where surface work has outlined a 650-meter-long mineralized gossan up to 30 meters wide. A gossan is the weathered, iron-rich cap that often sits above sulfide mineralization and can guide drill targeting.

Geophysical surveys have identified electromagnetic conductors beneath this gossan, providing subsurface targets that the current program is designed to evaluate. Surface samples from the zone have returned assays as high as 16.35 grams per tonne gold and 180 grams per tonne silver, underscoring the precious-metal potential of the system.

According to a June 8 release, the company plans to expand the program if early holes confirm favorable geology. Additional mineralized gossans discovered along a five-kilometer trend south of Halahila Main extend the prospective strike to roughly 10 kilometers, illustrating district-scale opportunities.

Recent Progress at Safra Sets the Stage

Before mobilizing equipment to Halahila, Sun Peak completed 1,242 meters of drilling in 10 holes at two target areas within the Safra VMS Project. Core samples have been sent to SGS Laboratory in Turkey for assaying, with results expected to contribute to a steady flow of news throughout the remainder of 2026.

Both projects benefit from excellent road access and established infrastructure, advantages that reduce logistical costs and accelerate the pace of exploration across Sun Peak's Saudi holdings.

Industry Timing and Government Support

Saudi Arabia's regulatory environment, combined with strong government commitment to the mining sector, continues to shorten permitting timelines and improve project economics. These conditions allow Sun Peak to advance multiple licenses efficiently while maintaining a focus on VMS systems that historically deliver significant copper and gold resources.

Exploration work across seven recently granted licenses covering approximately 632 square kilometers has already identified 58 initial targets, including 16 potential VMS sites. Fifteen of these targets have been prioritized for immediate follow-up, demonstrating the breadth of opportunities within the portfolio.

Analyst Perspectives and Market Sentiment

According to a review of the stock by Jeff Clark and Daniel Flynn of the Paydirt Prospector on May 28, the analysts highlighted Sun Peak's rapid execution, noting that the company is delivering on its stated plans in a timely manner. They emphasized the first-mover advantage in Saudi Arabia and the potential for re-rating if drilling confirms discovery potential.

The analysts recommended the stock as a Buy and disclosed personal positions, citing the combination of strong surface geochemistry, geophysical anomalies, and a supportive operating jurisdiction as key reasons for their positive stance.

Gold Market Context for Investors

In early U.S. trading on Tuesday, spot gold traded near US$4,338.80 per ounce, up 0.20 percent, while silver reached US$68.475, gaining 0.44 percent, according to a report by the Kitco NewsWire on June 9.

Although macroeconomic factors such as the upcoming consumer price index release have introduced near-term volatility, long-term structural demand for gold remains intact, noted Neils Christensen for Kitco News on June 8. Some analysts caution that gold could test support near US$4,000 if inflation data surprises to the upside, yet they also point out that such pullbacks have historically been followed by recoveries in a broader bull market.

Share Structure and Capitalization

Sun Peak Metals has a market capitalization of CA$67.33 million based on 164.22 million shares outstanding. The 52-week trading range spans CA$0.15 to CA$0.55.

1Management and insiders hold approximately 23 percent of the shares, with the balance held by retail investors.

This ownership profile aligns the interests of company leadership with those of retail shareholders while providing sufficient liquidity for market participation.

With drilling now active at Halahila and assays pending from Safra, Sun Peak is positioned to deliver a consistent stream of exploration results that retail investors can follow as the company evaluates the scale of its Saudi Arabian VMS targets.
