Technical Analyst Stewart Thomson shares his thoughts on Aztec Minerals Corp. (AZT:TSX.V; AZZTF:OTCQB) after recently announced drill results that expand its oxide gold-silver zone.

With copper, gold, and silver all well-supported on long-term charts, Aztec Minerals Corp. (AZT:TSX.V; AZZTF:OTCQB) announced drill results that expand its oxide gold-silver zone:

  • Intersecting 0.62 GPT AU and 24.8 GPT AG Over 107.9m in the Westside Area and 0.48 GPT AU and 12.6 GPT AG Over 112.5m at the Contention Area

The main target of the current drilling is to continue testing the shallow, bulk-tonnage, potentially heap-leachable, mesothermal gold-silver oxide mineralization adjacent and below the previously mined Contention pit by step-out drilling.

Future drilling is expected to focus on follow-up on the current program's results. It is anticipated that possible targeting could include strike and dip extensions of the shallow oxide mineralization and move along those trends deeper into the sulphide zone, as historically, there was significant production to 300 m depth.

Gold Chart: Technical Analyst Opinion

After a multi-year bull run, gold is establishing floors of support, which can be attractive to institutional investors who like stability and firm prices.

Higher gold prices that are well-supported will be a factor in how the Tombstone project plays out.

Silver Chart: Technical Analyst Opinion

A floor of US$50-US$70 for silver will also be beneficial to companies like Aztec, and this chart suggests that the floor is likely coming into play right now.

Junior Miners & Metals Prices

A big issue for the juniors is the price of the metals they mine. They can lower costs, but they can't control the price of the metals. They either suffer or gain from it.

The current floors for gold and silver can give confidence to institutional money managers, and from here it's up to the individual miners to show those money managers that their projects are worthy of institutional consideration.

Drill Results at the Tombstone Project

(2025-2026 RC And Core Drill Program)

The RC drilling program is targeting shallow zones associated with surface exploration and 3D geological modeling, prospective for wide oxide gold-silver mineralization, and drilling pre-collars for the deeper CRD targets.

The drill program has completed 40 RC and RC precollar drill holes in 2025 and 18 RC and one RC precollar drill hole since the start of 2026, focusing on testing both the Contention Main and Southern Extension areas as step-out targets and Westside Area first pass targets, with results from the first 14 RC holes now announced.

Initial assay results continue to validate the oxide gold-silver geological setting as outlined in Aztec's geological exploration model. Six core holes (TC25-01, 02, 03, 04, and TC26-01,02) have been attempted, and another (TC26-03) is currently being advanced (167.4 m), testing the central Contention target.

Primary Drill Program Objectives

The primary objectives of the 2025-26 drilling program were to expand the known mineralization horizontally to the west, north and south, and down dip beyond the holes drilled by Aztec in 2020-24 at the Contention Pit with step outs to enlarge the shallow, broad, bulk tonnage gold-silver mineralization discovered there; test by core drilling the initial deep CRD targets and also, to explore with first pass drilling new targets identified in the Westside area.

  • Step-Out Drilling Continues to Expand the Contention and Westside zones of Oxide Au/Ag Mineralization
  • Drill holes TR26-1, 2, 8, 9, 13, and 14 encountered multiple mineralized zones expanding the Westside Anticline and Center target areas, including an intersection of 107.9m averaging 0.62 gpt Au and 24.8 gpt Ag
  • Drill holes TR26-3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, and 12 expand the Contention Main target area to the west and depth, with multiple mineralized zones including an intersection of 112.5m averaging 0.48 gpt Au and 12.6 g/t Ag
  • 59 RC holes including five pre-collars, have now been drilled in the 2025-2026 drill program, with nine drill holes pending final analysis as the drilling campaign continues

Downhole Geophysical Survey of Core Holes

As of March 10, Aztec Minerals Corp.'s Tombstone property joint venture management committee has met recently and approved a further expansion of the continuing drill program by 4,500 meters of additional reverse circulation (RC) drilling.

The expanded drilling program, which commenced in June, 2025, is now expected to total approximately 17,000 m of combined core and RC drilling (14,200 m RC and 2,800 m core).

The additional approved drilling budget totals CA$1.7 million and is expected to be directed toward targets in the Westside, Hard-up, Ingersoll, East Contention, Southeast Contention, Central Contention, and North Contention areas. The focus of this additional shallow RC drilling program is to target oxide gold-silver mineralization.

The company also announces the commencement of downhole electromagnetic (EM) surveys of three core holes at the property, including the recently completed TC25-3 hole in the northern portion of the property, TC25-4, which targeted the southeastern NSAMT (natural-source audio-frequency magnetotelluric) target, and TC26-2, which is currently being drilled in the southwestern NSAMT target. Aztec contracted Zonge International to conduct the survey over the month of March, 2026.

The Aztec Daily Chart: Technical Analyst Opinion

The US$0.0.15 zone is functioning as strong support, and Stochastics is leading MACD, which is typical in a trending move.

A breakout over the US$0.23 resistance zone seems imminent and would target the US$0.33 area highs.
