John Newell of John Newell & Associates reviews Orestone Mining Corp. (ORS:TSXV; ORESF; OTC; O2R2:FSE) to explain why he thinks it is a Speculative Buy.

Gold and copper markets are attracting renewed investor attention. Gold continues to push toward record territory as central banks accumulate reserves, while copper is increasingly viewed as one of the most important metals for electrification, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and global power grid expansion. In this environment, junior exploration companies with large discovery targets can offer significant leverage to rising metal prices.

One company positioning itself in that environment is Orestone Mining Corp. (ORS:TSXV; ORESF; OTC; O2R2:FSE), a Vancouver-based exploration company advancing gold, silver, and copper projects in Canada and Argentina. With projects in two hemispheres and a management team with a long history of discovery success, the company is advancing exploration programs that could unlock significant value if drilling continues to confirm the scale of its targets.

I previously wrote about Orestone in Streetwise Reports in an article titled “A New Two-Project Gold Story with Year-Round Catalysts.” Since that time, the company has continued to move its exploration work forward while the technical structure of the stock has quietly begun to improve.

About the Company

Orestone Mining Corp. (ORS:TSXV;ORESF;OTC;O2R2:FSE) is a junior exploration company focused on gold, silver, and copper discoveries in mining-friendly jurisdictions. The company's strategy centers on identifying large mineral systems with the potential to host significant deposits and advancing them through disciplined exploration.

The company currently has two principal projects: the Francisca Gold-Silver Project in Salta, Argentina, and the Captain Gold-Copper Project in British Columbia. Together, these projects provide exposure to both epithermal gold systems and large porphyry-style mineralization.

An interesting advantage of this geographic diversification is that the projects sit in opposite hemispheres. Exploration programs in Argentina can continue during the Canadian winter months, while work in British Columbia can advance during Argentina's winter months. This gives the company the potential for more consistent exploration activity and news flow throughout the year, something investors often look for in junior exploration companies where seasonal shutdowns can slow momentum.

With gold and copper prices gaining momentum, management believes the current commodity cycle may provide a favorable environment for advancing these exploration targets and unlocking value for shareholders.

The Projects that could Impact the Market Capitalization

While both projects are important, the Captain Property in central British Columbia represents Orestone's primary growth driver and one of the most compelling geological targets in the company's portfolio.

The Captain project hosts a large gold-dominant porphyry system located approximately 40 kilometers north of Fort St. James. The property covers about 71 square kilometers and benefits from road access, moderate terrain, and year-round exploration potential.

Over time, the company has completed extensive groundwork on the project, including geophysical surveys and roughly 8,000 meters of drilling across 24 holes. These programs have already intersected porphyry-style mineralization and helped define a large exploration system.

One of the most important areas on the property is the T1 target, where geophysical surveys have identified a strong conductivity anomaly associated with coincident magnetic and induced polarization signatures. These types of geophysical patterns are commonly associated with large porphyry systems.

Drilling around the target area has intersected encouraging mineralization, including gold and copper values hosted within porphyry dykes that appear related to a larger intrusive system. Geologists believe these dykes may be vectors pointing toward the core of the mineralized system at depth.

The next stage of exploration is expected to include deeper drilling designed to test the center of this geophysical anomaly, where the company believes the heart of the porphyry system may lie.

The Francisca Gold-Silver Project

Orestone also controls the Francisca Gold-Silver Project in Salta Province, Argentina, where the company is targeting a bulk-tonnage oxide gold deposit that could potentially be mined by open-pit methods.

Gold and silver mineralization occurs along a ridge for more than 1,100 meters of strike length, with two primary zones identified so far. Historic trenching and sampling outlined mineralized zones approximately 400 to 450 meters long and up to 100 meters wide.

Sampling of the South Zone returned encouraging results, including numerous samples grading above 6 grams per tonne gold, with some samples reaching much higher values. These results support the interpretation that a broad oxide gold system is present near surface.

Orestone has the ability to earn up to an 85% interest in the project over seven years through staged payments and exploration expenditures. The company's near-term plans include additional mapping, trench re-sampling, and drilling designed to better define the scale of the mineralized system.

Management

One of Orestone's strengths is the experience within its management team and advisory board. Several members of the group have been involved in the discovery or development of significant gold deposits around the world.

Chairman and CEO David Hottman has more than three decades of experience in corporate finance and the resource sector and was a founder of Eldorado Gold and Nevada Pacific Gold.

Director and Senior Consulting Geologist Gary Nordin brings more than forty years of experience in mineral exploration and development to the team. Gary was a co-founder of both Bema Gold Corporation and Eldorado Corporation Ltd., where he was involved in identifying and developing significant open-pit type heap-leach gold reserves on numerous projects.

President Bruce Winfield, a professional geologist whose career includes work with major mining companies such as Texas Gulf and Boliden, and involvement in the exploration and development of several gold deposits.

The broader team includes geologists, mining engineers, and financial professionals who have contributed to a number of important discoveries and mining projects globally, as shown below.

This level of technical and corporate experience can be particularly valuable when exploring large mineral systems where geological interpretation and disciplined exploration strategies play a critical role.

Share Structure

Orestone (ORS:TSXV;ORESF;OTC;O2R2:FSE), has maintained a relatively tight capital structure compared with many exploration companies at a similar stage.

The company currently has approximately 106,993,563 shares outstanding, with 41,333,333 warrants and 6,340,000 options, resulting in a fully diluted share count of about 154,666,896 shares.

With the share price recently trading near CA$0.12, the company's market capitalization remains modest relative to the scale of the exploration targets it controls.

For investors focused on discovery-driven junior exploration stories, this type of valuation can offer meaningful leverage if exploration success begins to attract broader market attention.

The Technicals

From a technical perspective, the chart for Orestone Mining (ORS.V) has been quietly improving.

After spending several years building what appears to be a long basing pattern, the stock formed a double bottom structure and began moving higher as buyers started returning to the story.

More recently, the stock broke out above its base and moved quickly to CA$0.15, achieving the first technical target identified on the chart.

The pullback that followed appears to be a breakout retest, which is often a constructive development in an emerging uptrend.

If the stock can hold above the breakout level and continue building momentum, the next technical targets on the chart are:

  • Second target: CA$0.23
  • Third target: CA$0.40

The longer-term chart also shows the stock approaching an area of historical resistance, which could act as the next point of recognition and breakout, if the company delivers strong exploration results.

Conclusion

Orestone Mining Corp. (ORS:TSXV;ORESF;OTC;O2R2:FSE), represents a classic junior exploration story: a modest market capitalization, an experienced technical team, and two projects with the potential to deliver meaningful exploration results.

The Captain porphyry target in British Columbia offers exposure to a large gold-copper system that could evolve into a significant discovery if drilling successfully identifies the core of the mineralized intrusive system.

At the same time, the Francisca oxide gold project in Argentina provides a second exploration opportunity where surface mineralization suggests the possibility of a bulk-tonnage deposit.

Because these projects are located in opposite hemispheres, exploration programs can often advance in one jurisdiction while seasonal conditions slow activity in the other. This creates the potential for more consistent exploration progress and year-round catalysts, something investors often look for in junior discovery stories.

With gold and copper markets strengthening and exploration programs advancing, Orestone is a company worth watching in the junior exploration sector.

At current levels around CA$0.12 per share, Orestone Mining Corp. appears to be a Speculative Buy for investors seeking leverage to discovery-driven exploration success.
