Asian demand was quite dismal this summer but picked up when gold prices began to drop. Now that prices are higher, can this trend continue? Kitco News speaks with managing director and chief investment officer of Singapore-based Swiss Asia Capital to see what trends he is seeing in the Asian market. "Asians like sales, so the moment you get something on sale, people step in and buy more,” he says. “If you look at gold in almost any other currency than U.S. dollar for the year, you’re up. Every Asian made money this year in buying gold." Kiener says that for this reason he expects Asian demand to accelerate as the region's currencies see continued weakness. His forecasts on gold remain positive saying that we're near a bottom. (10/23/14)
