A Washington, D.C.-based lobbyist, who represents hardrock mining companies, warned miners that "chances are slim to none" that the industry will be able to halt passage of the H.R. 2262 Mining Law reform by the U.S. House, probably by year end.
In a speech to the Nevada Mining Association convention, Mike Pieper, Government and Public Affairs Managing Director for R&R Partners, said a recent National Mining Association survey determined, nevertheless, that "the public agrees that we must continue to mine domestically."...
Pieper said there is a "pretty positive outlook as to getting a reasonable bill out of the Senate." He urged miners to work with both the Senate and the House "to get a bill that is reasonable."
